Despite seeing his old teammate face these obstacles, Hamlin still believes that there’s more to the driver than what his results are showing. 

More to Kyle Busch than his results suggest

Speaking on his podcast, Denny Hamlin discussed Kyle Busch’s struggles this season in the NASCAR Cup Series. Hamlin acknowledged that the two-time champion is much better than his current results suggest. However, he did hint that some of Busch’s misfortunes might be due to his own driving, particularly referencing recent wrecks while running 15th.

Busch’s playoff hopes are precarious. The driver who once dominated the victory lane is now struggling. As the season progresses and pressures mount, whispers in the NASCAR industry grow louder: Has Busch hit a slump?

Even Denny Hamlin chose not to sugarcoat things while addressing the matter. He said, “Most times, if you get caught up in a wreck while running 15th, well, you shouldn’t have been running 15th because that’s where the wrecks usually start,” Hamlin said while describing the real reason for Busch’s underperformance. “So ‘luck’ is an overused word, but certainly they’ve had some misfortunes; some that was on them and others that just happened.”
