Ryan Blaney was upset about not answering about his incident with Ross Chastain after a wild race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Both drivers have a history of being involved in on-track altercations, and this time Chastain got better of his rival during the race at Bristol. Doing what he does best, bumping and wrecking Blaney’s #12 car.

While Chastain has a reputation for being the aggressor, Denny Hamlin believes that Blaney’s annoyance is unjustified. Because the Penske driver was dishing out similar treatment towards him during the race. Speaking on his podcast show “Actions Detrimental,” the JGR driver vented out his frustration against Blaney, explaining how close he was to wrecking the defending Cup Series champions.

After multiple restarts and cautions after the start of stage 3, everyone wanted to advance in front of the field in search of a better track position. Chastain, in his bid, bumped Blaney’s #12 car, which was running in the inside lane. After clipping his left rear, Chastain turned outside of the track, making contact again, which resulted in Blaney losing his control over the car. This incident proved costly for Blaney, as he was unable to make progress, finishing #16 at the end of the race.

After the race, Blaney was asked about this incident, to which he replied, “I’m tired of you asking me Ross questions. No thanks”. However, Hamlin shared his incident with Blaney during his show and called out his dirty tactics during the race. “I came over the radio at one point today and was like, tell Blaney, he’s got to give me a little room. I was fine letting him go, but he just coming off the corner wasn’t giving me much room, and we kept making contact.

I’m like, Hey man, I don’t want to spin him out, but he does know I’m on the inside, right? So we just kept cutting down on left rear, and I kept knocking him up the track because he kept coming down the bottom lane when I was there. I mean, those are two guys that fight hard for every inch. So you’re probably gonna have that,” the veteran driver added.

Blaney and Chastain have had their fair share of moments on the race tracks recently in the Cup Series race. And the incident at Bristol will only fuel their on-track rivalry in the races to come.

The rivalry between Ryan Blaney and Ross Chastain started brewing during the championship race in Phoenix last year. Blaney was on the lookout for his first championship win, but Chastain wasn’t going to allow him a free pass in the race. Leading the field, Chastain proved to be a hindrance for Blaney, as he was unable to make the pass. In the end, Blaney held off to the second spot ahead of Kyle Larson and bagged his maiden title, whereas Chastain won the race. However, going by the recent happenings between the two drivers, it looks like they are well on track to deliver an epic rivalry battle for the 2024 season.

It all started during the race in Las Vegas. Blaney was very much in the running for a third-place finish in the race but had to hold off Ross Chastain, who was looking to snatch away the position. Blaney was throwing blocks at Chastains to keep him behind and was successful in finishing third. Acknowledging Blaney’s shrewd tactics, Chastain after the race said, “It was pretty cool to see Blaney blocking me at the end. Pretty cool to see his evolution with air blocking. I was proud of him.”

In reply, Ryan Blaney took a sarcastic jab at his rival by sharing a hilarious meme via his X account. With just five races in the season, the rivalry between the two is already simmering pretty well. So it will be fun to watch the two foes go at each other in the upcoming races.
