Competitively, the 2023 NASCAR season hasn’t even begun yet, but there’s already a feud brewing. In fact, that feud is an old one, so it’s more of the case of reigniting, as was clear after the Clash at the Coliseum, as Kyle Busch called Joey Logano “two-faced,” and Logano said, “Yes, I am.” With that, Denny Hamlin has an interesting insight into the dynamic between the two as well as how they are as racecar drivers.
In a recent episode of his podcast show, Hamlin opened up on the “spicy, salty” post-Clash comments between Busch and Logano.
The #11 driver also shed some light on the perceived differences and the actual differences between the two, two-time NASCAR Cup champions, both considered a menace in their own right.

Denny Hamlin thinks Joey Logano vs. Kyle Busch is “a clash of personalities”
According to Denny Hamlin, Busch calling Logano “two-faced,” and Logano admitting to it, was the defending Cup champion being rather honest instead of being witty.
“I think Joey is being honest and saying, ‘Yeah, I am two-faced, and here’s how I do it on the racetrack. I don’t search out friends…I’d rather be an a**hole on the track than off the track,'” Hamlin said.“That’s an honest way to be.
“I think what we’re seeing here, is a clash of personalities because what Joey kind of…I don’t know if he was insinuating or he was flat-out saying, ‘Well Kyle you might be a nice guy on the track and you don’t wreck people, but you’re an a**hole off the track.'”
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver then opened up on his insight into the respective characters of the two subjects as racecar drivers.

Hamlin, who has raced with both Busch and Logano as teammates, revealed that he interacts with both of them on and off the track. So what he said next about the two is, perhaps, a fair assessment of them over what the public understanding might be.
“I would say that Joey admittedly says that, ‘I am that guy.’ I would agree with that. And I also would agree with the fact that Kyle is not that guy on the track, I think he’s one of the most fair racers I’ve raced against,” Hamlin said.

The #11 driver added that while Busch puts himself as “the black hat kinda guy,” it’s really not the case for him, especially on the racetrack.
“He really isn’t. I think he’s very fair,” Hamlin said of Busch. “He races people hard but super fair.”

As for Joey Logano, Hamlin had slightly different things to say. “Joey, probably less fair at times,” he claimed. “More selfish, but that’s fine, that works for him.”
