The Pocono Speedway race of late has become synonymous with the feud between Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson, attracting the limelight from the press thanks to a continuous flow of remarks from both camps. In fact, several of NASCAR’s iconic knights of the road, including Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty, and Dale Earnhardt Jr, among others, have also waded into the fray with their viewpoints. But just as the spotlight was about to swivel towards the Richmond race track, Hamlin and Larson stirred the pot yet again.

On the eve of the Richmond Speedway race, Hamlin revealed a hush-hush chinwag with the Hendrick Motorsports driver. However, seemingly not eager to air their private conversation, he held his cards close to his chest, refraining from divulging any details to the media.

Following the Pocono Race, an undercurrent of tension seemed to ripple between the two pals off the track, only serving to fan the flames of media scrutiny. However, in a recent pre-race press briefing, when Denny Hamlin acknowledged having a brief digital exchange of words with Larson, the barrage of inquiries swiftly shifted gears towards that topic, prodding him to spill the beans on the dialogue shared with Larson. Despite the pressure, Hamlin held his ground, resolutely refusing to provide any inside details, leaving the ball in the other camp’s court regarding any disclosures.

He maintained, “Similar to the Chase Elliott incident, he reached out to me; I just prefer to keep it private and between us. If they care to elaborate on it, that’s totally fine, but I’ll leave it up to them.”

Moreover, when questioned about his objective behind reaching out or arranging a rendezvous with the Hendrick Motorsports driver, Hamlin admitted he was simply trying to fathom the root of Larson’s vexation.

Interestingly enough, not long after, Larson himself surfaced, revealing a smattering of information about his private conversation with the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.

On the eve of the Richmond race, Kyle Larson found himself fielding the same question regarding his dialogue with Denny Hamlin after the Pocono saga. However, unlike Hamlin, Larson spilled some beans about his conversation, stating that while Hamlin was keen to meet up and possibly iron out their differences, Larson wasn’t completely sold on the idea.

As he put it, “He wanted to meet up, but I just didn’t feel like we needed to. So I felt like just briefly texting was the best thing to do because I think in person, I probably would have ended up more upset, and he probably would have been upset with me.”

Furthermore, when probed about his approach to the impending Richmond race and the dynamics it might present, Larson remained predictably non-committal, steering clear of any presuppositions. He affirmed, “I can’t really predict anything, but at least I have a better awareness of how he has been around me in the past, so I know what to expect in the future. I imagine he’ll race me a lot differently, and if not, then we’ll probably have more issues.”
