Having a pet could be a blast but also a lot of work, especially with all the chores and time it takes. This goes for everyone, even for Denny Hamlin, who’s a full-time dad, a full-time NASCAR driver, a full-time co-owner, and also a podcaster. As much as he’s a beast on the track, dealing with pets at home comes with its own set of challenges.

Right now, Hamlin’s in a bit of a pickle between Milo, his dog, and a new puppy, Lulu his daughter, Taylor, has kept. But as luck would have it, Hamlin ain’t feeling another pup in the crib.

In a recent Instagram reel of his podcast, Actions Detrimental, Denny Hamlin brought forth Taylor and the new pup, Lulu. In the show, there was also his co-host Jared Allen and his daughter Taylor present. Hamlin who wanted to give the Lulu away started off remarking. “So anyway, there’s this young puppy here and we’ve got to figure out what to do with it.

Allen, advocating for the puppy, replied, “I mean keep it. It’s the answer.” Hamlin’s daughter, Taylor chimed in, “No, we already have it.” As Jordan Fish’s recent story also suggested they have already kept the pup and have also named it. However, unmoved by emotions Hamlin remained firm, “We can’t keep it. We can’t keep it.

The conversation revealed the crux of Hamlin’s hesitation. He referred to Lulu as “a short-term happiness and a long-term pain in the a**.” However, Denny Hamlin is a great father, but his concern was primarily about the responsibilities that come with another pet.

They’re not going to do it. They don’t even pick up after themselves. They’re not going to take care of this dog,” he argued. Allen tried to counter, suggesting it would teach his daughter responsibility, but Hamlin was seemingly unconvinced. Despite the cuteness of the puppy and Milo‘s apparent affection for it, Hamlin stood his ground. “All puppies are cute,” he said, dismissing the emotional appeal.

Adding to the complexity, Taylor pointed out how much Milo, their current dog, enjoys playing with the new puppy. “Milo loves her actually,” she stated. Allen added on to this, “Milo they played quite well last year. So now you’re going to lose a friend too.

Thus, Hamlin was in a difficult spot Hamlin acknowledged the joy the new puppy brought but was still wary of the long-term commitment. “I don’t. All puppies are cute,” he repeated, emphasizing his reluctance despite the evident bond forming between Milo and the new pup.

This back-and-forth exchange between the three members of the podcast became a hot topic on social media. Many fans were drawn towards this small segment on Instagram and had their share of say. What are the fans’ verdicts?

And guess what the community as usual weighed in

The social media post was met with numerous reactions. The majority of the fans found the situation to be amusing but yet relatable. One of the fans amusingly observed, “We watched in real-time Denny realize he’s going to have another dog lol.” Another one echoed this by saying “YOU ARE DONE! The puppy is staying.

Fans thought Denny Hamlin would eventually give in. As one of them commented humorously positing that ‘Possession is 9/10 of the law, Denny. Lulu is now part of the Hamlin/Airspeed family.’ This subtly implies that they consider him as having already accepted his daughter’s demand for the puppy.

Some fans give practical advice about introducing the new dog into a home,  “Keep the dog and make the girls take care of the dog. Make a daily dog duty list that they HAVE to DO!!” Another fan encouraged her fellow supporters with statements like this explaining why keeping Milo was good for them in their opinion.

Others were excited at the prospect of seeing a new member of Hamlin’s family. “Awesome you have another member of the family!”  Thus, many comments hint at the fact that his daughter has finished the deal for Milo. But for confirmation, we have to wait till the next episode of Actions Detrimental, or Denny Hamlin posts a picture of his daughters, Milo and the new pet playing in his backyard.
