At the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin suffered a nightmare day in the office. First and foremost, he became the latest victim of Ross Chastain, who annoyed many of his contemporaries on Sunday. This was because he was often at the focal point of multiple wrecks. Later on, Chastain tagged Hamlin’s Coca-Cola-liveried car into a spin and ruined his race.

Subsequently, Hamlin’s Twitter account turned the incident into a bit of a meme, taking a dig at Chastain. That tweet was titled ‘deja vu’, because Chastain has had so many incidents before, and Hamlin’s social media team found it familiar.

However, the #11 Joe Gibbs Racing driver later tweeted that whoever posted the ‘deja vu’ tweet had a different sense of humor than his own.

In the end, the driver could only muster 25th place, which was a hugely disappointing result.

Denny Hamlin will be aiming to bounce back from the bad race

Of course, the #11 driver will be disappointed with how his race turned out. However, there is nothing that he can do about it, but simply move on. Next weekend is the NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, so this is another chance for Hamlin to redeem himself.

Without a doubt, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver will be keen to avoid Ross Chastain in future races. Or on the other end of the scale, he and the other drivers who were annoyed at the Trackhouse driver could possibly gang up on him.

Of course, Hamlin would possibly prefer not to waste time with petty revenge on Chastain. Instead, he will be aiming to win the race at New Hampshire, a race where he won in 2007 and in 2017.

Now, he wants to add a third New Hampshire win under his belt and sit tie with the current record-holder, Jeff Burton, who has won the race in the cup series three times (1997, 1998, 1999).
