Denny Hamlin has initiated quite a stir among NASCAR fans once again. Intriguing, right? But this time it is not about him but another driver whose name was recently added to NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers list along with him. Hamlin, who is known for his outspoken personality, spilled some beans on a former race car driver from Joe Gibbs Racing, Carl Edwards.
It was the 2016 season of the Sprint Cup Series when fans saw Carl Edwards race his last. Two years with JGR and Edwards had shown great talent. That year he was all set to win, but the final race of the season had a caution which led to a restart. And after the restart, Edwards was involved in a crash that pretty much shattered his dreams to lift the trophy.

Hamlin, in his podcast ‘Actions Detrimental’, opened up about meeting his old teammates recently, at NASCAR’s celebration for its ‘Greatest 75’ list. He mentioned how he can never forget when Edwards had announced his retirement from racing. Hamlin revealed that he was very curious to know the reason behind that decision.
He said, “I just remember calling Carl right after that [his retirement announcement]. He’s like, ‘Oh, man, I just, I’m out. I just, I have my reasons’. He just said ‘I have my reasons’. And still, you hear him on TV today. He just won’t, he won’t say why. We all know why. I think Kenny Wallace actually got a pretty accurate take on why he left the sport.”
You may recall, last year, Kenny Wallace had subtly blamed Joey Logano for Carl Edwards’ sudden NASCAR retirement, while also stating a few other reasons.
In the podcast, Hamlin’s co-host immediately asked him back, “It does mean that you just don’t have that confirmation.” Hamlin, knowing Edward well, shared, “He just won’t give it to you.”
“He’s just that private to not give it to you and always keep you wanting more. That’s what I respect about Carl. So you wonder what he’s thinking sometimes, unlike me, you always know what I’m thinking.”

While he shed some light on Edwards’ retirement story, he shared something that must have gotten the fans excited. Stating that his personality is introverted as he keeps his life private, Hamlin said, “I will break a little news. Not to rat out on Carl. Carl has Twitter!”
His co-host excitedly inquired, “Burner account?” And Hamlin was certain that Edwards does have a burner account, as he knows what’s going on around.
Hamlin shared, “I may or may not have been sitting beside him at a meeting. I look, Twitter was open. We will never know what name he has, I guarantee. I’m surprised it gets wiped out with all the other bots or must have inactive accounts or maybe he’s just somebody that’s just every week, just digging, digging storylines.”
