As we all know, Denny Hamlin was recently involved in a controversial tape fiasco back in Pocono. Following that, he sat down on the Door Bumper Clear podcast and gave his thought on the whole situation. During the podcast, Denny talked about multiple things. He expressed his views on NASCAR regarding the package switch used in Michigan.
However, what took the spotlight was his self-deprecating joke that left the rest of the panel gasping for air.

During the podcast, Brett Griffin and Denny Hamlin were talking about NASCAR’s decision to run Atlanta’s race package in Michigan. During which Griffin said he’d be on board with the package, but Denny probably won’t. In response to that, Denny joked, “No, I think Toyota is gonna haul a**, especially after we put some duct tape on it.”
He added, “I don’t know I see merit to both honestly. I think if you want like a complete clusterf**k of racing and crazy restarts, then you gotta slow em down.”
“I would say even in Atlanta, you gotta slow them slightly more. We’re still 5 miles an hour too fast.”
“I mean, if you are gonna slow them down, honestly really slow them down. Like we got like get under the tire so we can get close to each other in the corners. That’s what is going to make the great speedway racing that we all love.”

Back at the Pocono Raceway, when Denny and Kyle dove into the pits, it seemed someone from another team spotted the tape on their cars and promptly rushed off to the officials in a straight snitch move.
Another NASCAR driver, Corey LaJoie, stated that some snitch reported their cars during his podcast. Solidifying the claim, even NASCAR’s official Twitter account reposted the video as to why the two Joe Gibbs racing cars were disqualified.

Denny Hamlin became the first driver to get disqualified after a race win since the 1960s. Not exactly the kind of history books he wished to enter. Post the disqualification of Hamlin and Busch, Chase Elliott was moved up in the order. Elliott did not seem pleased to win the race like this. He also expressed if Denny wants to keep the trophy, he can.
