There can be no present without the past, and NASCAR’s present drivers recently paid their tributes to their heroes in a video released by Coca-Cola. The current drivers involved included Denny Hamlin, Daniel Suarez, and Joey Logano. The drivers paid their respects to Jeff Burton, Kyle Petty, and Bobby Labonte.

They are all a part of the Coca-Cola Racing Family. The NASCAR legends seemed pleased that the current generation acknowledged the success that they achieved back in the day. It was a heartwarming moment between the two sets of drivers as the mutual respect among them was evident.

Denny Hamlin sent his video message to Jeff Burton. The 43-year-old said that the NASCAR veteran had been an inspiration and an asset to the sport. The comment was well-received by the racing legend.

“Hey Jeff, it’s Denny here. Just want to say, as a Coca-Cola Racing Family member, thank you. You have certainly been an inspiration to us. We’ve carried on the torch but you’ve been a great asset to all the drivers,” the JGR man said.

Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano sent his video message to Kyle Petty. While Petty did not have the greatest of careers, the Team Penske man considered him a legacy driver and thanked him for his honesty.

“Alright KP, they told me to pick one of the Coca-Cola legacy drivers, that’s you, legacy driver now. Thank you for being a great friend of mine and being honest all the time about whatever is on your mind. I appreciate that and help us steer straight when we need a little guidance,” Logano said.

Mexican-American racer Daniel Suarez shared his message of appreciation for the former Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte. The Trackhouse Racing driver thanked the 2000 Cup Series winner for being a role model in the Coca-Cola Racing Family.

“Hey Bobby! How are you doing my friend?” Suarez asked. “I wanted to say thank you very much for being a huge role model of the Coca-Cola Racing Family. Thank you so much, my friend, I will see you soon on the track,” he added.

While Denny Hamlin was one of the drivers to send a heartfelt message to one of his heroes, the 23XI Racing co-owner is not in the best of shape at the moment. In fact, he recently underwent an arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
