Hamlin, fresh off his fourth Clash at The Coliseum victory in the recently unveiled ‘XSE’ is now setting his sights on a potential fourth Daytona 500 victory on February 18. A victory could lead the #11 to the onset of his first elusive Cup Series championship, despite having 51 race wins in a gloried career spanning over two decades.

The veteran driver feels confident with the new car ahead of the 2024 season, in a recent interview with FOX, he stated, “And this is the first car that we’ve been able to design around the current rules package that we have, you know, we designed the other NExtGEn cars and then all the rules changed in December before NextGEn came out. And so… we felt like you know this is the first car that we’ve really been able to work around. The rules that we’ve got, it was a collaboration between Toyota, JGR, 23XI, All those guys to come up with this and hopefully it will be better.”

NASCAR has implemented several changes in the 2024 season aimed at cost-effectiveness and competition balance. Limits on backup cars and reduced fuel capacity in the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck series put pit strategies to the test, demanding greater efficiency and resourcefulness. Additionally, updated mufflers for specific tracks in the Cup Series aiming to address noise concerns without compromising performance might present initial challenges, but they also offer opportunities for teams to adapt and innovate.

Nevertheless, the 2024 season marks a significant step up for Toyota in NASCAR, not only with the introduction of the new Camry but also with the addition of Legacy Motor Club, welcoming Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek to the Toyota lineup. This strategic partnership brings the total number of Toyota teams in the Cup to eight, counting 23Xi’s Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick as well as the four Joe Gibbs cars. Thus, establishing the Japanese manufacturer as a formidable force in NASCAR.
