

Kyle Busch is regarded as one of the most talented NASCAR drivers of his generation. However, there are two kinds of reactions towards the Joe Gibbs Racing star. To be precise, you either love him or you absolutely despise him, there is no in between. In a recent conversation with Danica Patrick, Denny Hamlin spoke about his teammate Busch and why he is not very well-liked.

He said, “Abrasive. I think he’s just abrasive. He’s interesting to talk to, for sure. I always say, the Busch brothers, they have a lot of conspiracy theories in them. They really believe people are out to get them all the time. Which I don’t believe is the case. So they always have that chip on their shoulder, right? I think that Kyle’s just got that personality that really, that you’re either going to like him, because he goes out there and performs. He’s a bada** driver.”

What else did Denny Hamlin say about Kyle Busch?
According to Hamlin, his off-track persona could be a contributing factor to his change in teams. It was why his previous relationship with Hendrick Motorsports broke down, and now its happening with Joe Gibbs Racing. It had nothing to do with his on track performance, but his off-track persona really took its toll.

Hamlin continued, “Or you hate him because you don’t like his attitude outside the race car. No one hates Kyle on the race track. No one’s like, ‘He’s a dirty driver, he’s not good’. Everyone loves Kyle and what he brings to our sport on the race track. It’s just, off the race track, it’s been challenging for Kyle.”

That being said, Denny Hamlin insisted that he had nothing but respect for his teammate. This is why he hopes that Kyle Busch performs well at Richard Childress Racing. He firmly believes that Kyle Busch has the capability to bring the team back to championship contention.
