What can be the worst thing that drivers can face apart from being wrecked out? Well, the answer is quite simple, being levied with penalties and docking of points. Nothing could be more abrasive than the precious points of the drivers being taken away by the authorities for employing illegal or unauthorized parts in the car, and more often than not, these penalties jeopardize the point standings of the driver and often fall back in position.
In recent times NASCAR has been more stringent than ever, dishing out hefty penalties to drivers, irrespective of the format. Whether it is the deduction of points or slapping fines on the teams and ejecting crew members, NASCAR has been relentless in making the sport impartial. However, it seems that the recent incident of levying hefty charges by the authorities didn’t sit well with Denny Hamlin.

The past few weeks have nothing been less than a whirlwind for drivers and their teams. Shifting from the regular season to the playoffs, the NASCAR drivers have been thirstier than ever to inch closer to the victory lane. However, in the quest to churn out more victories, it seems that teams have resorted to the usage of illegal and unsanctioned parts in the cars to make it gain pace on the tracks.
Owing to this, NASCAR has donned the cap of Sherlock Holmes to locate the culprit and chastise them with justified penalties from the playbook. However, it seems that Denny Hamlin is discontented after the authorities dished out an L2 penalty to Truck Series star Ty Majeski and his team after the Milwaukee debacle.
It was evident that the JGR driver felt that NASCAR was not stringent enough to Majeski and his team when slapping the charges for wheel assembly violation. In the recent episode of Actions Detrimental, Hamlin, speaking to his co-host Jared Allen, expressed, “They did find something. I know the penalty was not very harsh at all. It only affects him if he doesn’t make the final 4, which I think he is going to make the final 4.”
“But even though he won the week before, he still advances and took 75 points away, but who cares about that, he locked into the next round. I thought the team definitely got by with one little better, with this penalty than the others have tweaked that area of the car truck,” he said.
Deliberating further on the issue, Hamlin asserted, “The timing he had already won a race, this was the second race of that round of the Trucks. It doesn’t to me change the outlook of the Truck playoffs, much at all. Yeah, I think probably taken away more playoff points that way, he really taken away 5 playoff points, it nullifies the bonus points that you got from the win from the previous week at Indy, but you gotta dig deeper than that. That’s not just enough of a penalty for sure.”

After failing the pre-race inspection, Ty Majeski of ThorSports was compelled to start the race from the rear of the field and also had to serve a pass-through. Furthermore, crew chief Joe Shear was ejected from the field.
Nevertheless continuing on the same lines and being asked about whether the penalty suits the crime or not, Hamlin expressed, “Yes and no for sure. it depends on the severity of it and again I don’t have whatever an illegal item sitting on the table, to the point where it’s a very egregious, blatant attempt to cheat or not. It was harsh but it didn’t happen by accident…”
He reinforced, “But this particular thing I believe was probably deliberate, I am confident saying that.”

Nevertheless, Majeski who has been a championship contender was able to rebound and deliver a top 10 finish in the race. However, if Hamlin’s words are taken into consideration, Majeski was able to escape from a hefty penalty, given the other harsh precedents.
