In the fast-paced world of NASCAR, wins and losses are measured in seconds. Sunday’s race in Richmond brought high-octane action and a moment of genuine admiration.
As the 22nd race of the season came to a crescendo, all eyes turned to Denny Hamlin, the skilled driver of the #11 Toyota Camry. Hamlin, no stranger to the pressures of the track, showcased his racing prowess but could not match the #17 Ford’s speed. In the end, much like everyone else, he was forced to recognize the impeccable display by RFK Racing.

Following an impressive showing in the recent race, where Hamlin secured a commendable second place behind RFK Racing’s triumphant driver Chris Buescher, the focus was on more than just lap times. Hamlin’s words reverberated across the NASCAR community, acknowledging the achievements of RFK Racing and its co-owner and driver, Brad Keselowski.
During a post-race interview with Matt Weaver, Hamlin was asked, “Where were the 6th and 17th so much better than everyone else?”
“I don’t know. I got to break it. I’m going to have to break it down for sure over the next day or two but I’m not really sure. But they certainly had more grip than we did, so hats off to them. They just, I know as a two-car small team organization, how hard it is to get to this point. So hats off to Brad and the Fenway Group and Steve Newmark [RFK President] for what they put on the racetrack today.” Hamlin stated, admitting his defeat.

While Buescher’s victory was a moment of celebration for RFK Racing, the spotlight also fell on the team’s co-owner, Brad Keselowski. Like Hamlin, Keselowski, too, wears multiple hats as a driver-owner. As the 2012 Cup champion, Keselowski’s credentials are unquestionable, but his journey with RFK Racing has been a testament to perseverance.
