Ford Performance once again dominated the tracks of Michigan as the manufacturer exhibited powerful signs of a rebound from a staggering leadership and dealing with shaky machinery. Moreover, the duel between Martin Truex Jr and Chris Buescher was a spectacle to remember. Both the drivers drove up side by side, but RFK Racing #17 was absolutely invincible on the team’s home track in Michigan.

Following the Ford winner were two Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin, who took up the second and the third spots, respectively. While both top drivers certainly caught the attention of the audience, Truex Jr’s teammate Denny Hamlin showed enough prowess and recovered his positions on the track after a major setback on the pit road. However, it seems like Hamlin believes he had a clear shot at winning, if not for his teammate Truex Jr.

Denny Hamlin spills the beans on the apparent reason that cost him his victory

For Denny Hamlin, the FireKeepers Casino 400 was a mixed affair, as he found himself encountering certain hiccups on the track, especially after his car failed to start while exiting the pit road. Nevertheless, the #11 Toyota surely showed improvement, and Hamlin was able to regain his track position.

However, he was certain of the fact that he would have clinched his third victory in the season had it been not for his teammate Martin Truex Jr. Surprising, right?

Hamlin‘s thoughts were evident when he expressed to Frontstretch media, “Whoever can control the lead, really has a huge advantage, and even though the #19 was super strong in real demand and we reeled him in, it’s just so hard to pass that. That makes it difficult. I was hoping to get side-by-side a little more so we could close in even more, but I don’t know how many seconds we gained that last run, but it was a lot. Obviously, I thought our last sequence, the green flag sequence, we lost a couple of seconds and that we lost the race by a couple of seconds.”

“We were able to get really good restarts and our cars were fast enough to gain it back there through the race and then there’s one move where I took the #19, 3 wide, I thought that was gonna be the race for the win and because I knew we were so close in speed but he was able to maneuver,” Hamlin added.

While Hamlin had his chance, he could not get past his teammate. Truex Jr too must have felt the same about Chris Buescher. However, Buescher was all praises for the way Truex Jr raced against him.

He expressed to NBC, This team gave me a great car again and had to work for that one too, and you know, hard racing there at the end. Martin was very clean with me and I appreciate that. Getting to go to Victory Lane two weeks in a row, so that’s pretty awesome.” Other than Truex, he also had a heartwarming confession for someone really close to him.

He concluded the interaction with NBC’s pit reporter by saying, “I gotta say you know, missing my wife. She hasn’t been at the last two wins now, uh three wins, ooh, yeah we’re gonna have to get her to a racetrack soon. But I didn’t thank her last week, and I know she puts up with a lot, so wish she was here.”

Hearing this, we really hope Buescher’s wife, Emma Helton, is there to witness his next win firsthand. With the momentum the Fords seem to have, it can very well be the next race.
