Kyle Busch is having an amazing season so far in his debut season with Richard Childress Racing. He currently holds fifth place in the Cup standings and has secured his spot in the playoffs with three impressive wins. However, he has encountered some difficulties during the recent races and has been vocal about the same. The same happened with the New Hampshire race. It was another instance where the RCR driver struggled with rear grip throughout the weekend. As a result, he had his worst finish of the season, ending up in 36th place with a DNF.
Fans and NASCAR enthusiasts were saddened to witness a difficult weekend for the champion driver. Many, including Denny Hamlin, expressed their sympathy for him. But, Hamlin shared one notable incident that took place after Kyle Busch’s crash and revealed an interesting reason for fans disapproving the RCR driver even though he is having a great season.

Denny Hamlin and Jared Allen discussed Kyle Busch’s challenging weekend on the Action Detrimental podcast, with Hamlin using the word “Trifecta” due to his involvement in wrecks during practice, qualifying, and the race.
Hamlin explained that after the crash in practice, Busch’s team worked on making adjustments in half of the remaining practice. However, despite laying down a good lap in the first round of qualifying, Busch faced difficulties in the second round, resulting in him fighting for grip throughout the entire weekend.
He said, “He [Kyle] said he fought rear grip all weekend, didn’t have any of it. And yeah he had a bear rough week.”
During a discussion with his co-host, Hamlin delved into the crowd’s reaction following the crash, noting that it seemed as though fans were cheering when Kyle Busch backed his car into the corner.
Hamlin speculated that this disapproval from the fans could be attributed to Busch’s recent team switch, moving from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing and adopting a new manufacturer.
He further revealed that almost every driver was struggling with a grip. He then touched upon his own struggle with tires, saying, “I was like, Oh man I can’t touch the gas from lap 1 like just sideways, and really the more laps I ran the better it got.”

Despite Kyle Busch’s impressive performances, he and his team have faced struggles in some races earlier in the season. Following his crash during qualifying at New Hampshire, Busch opened up about the team’s ongoing issues. He disclosed that the main problem was the lack of grip in his car, attributing it to factors such as a shorter spoiler and fewer strikes on the diffuser, which resulted in reduced downforce.
He highlighted previous races at Martinsville, Phoenix, and Richmond as examples of their underwhelming performances due to the same problems. Rowdy expressed determination to overcome these issues and achieve better results, inspired by the success of their fellow Chevrolet partners.
Kyle said after qualifying at New Hampshire, “So we’d love to come out here and just have a solid run and get better and you know the previous events Martinsville we ran 25th all day, Richmond we ran 16th all day, Phoenix we ran 10th 11th all day.”
