Denny Hamlin was not someone you’d remember from the Cup Series race in Atlanta on Sunday. He finished P23 and never really seemed to run exceptionally well. But the Joe Gibbs Racing star is never going to forget this race. He has been in the competition for almost two decades and for the first time ever, the 43-year-old soaked his pants inside his car, an experience he called “historical” on a recent episode of the Actions Detrimental career.
What’s even funnier is that he outed two fellow drivers who do the same regularly. One is NASCAR legend Carl Edwards, and the other is 23XI Racing star Tyler Reddick. The driver of the #45 might be a confused man, as Hamlin is his boss, after all. But it made for one of the most hilarious segments in the history of the podcast.

It all kicked off as the NASCAR officials were cleaning the track after an incident and the cars were in the pits. Denny Hamlin sitting in his car and getting a bit impatient as his concentration was broken. It was then that he felt his bladder being at its limit and before long, he had one of the most memorable moments of his career.
“So I’m sitting there during the red flag and I get on the radio and I say to the spotters, what’s the hold-up? Why are we red-flagged? He’s like, we got a problem over here…so I’m looking at my clock and I’m like, there’s 20 laps to go, how any more yellows are there gonna be? I just don’t think I’m gonna make it.”
“And my stomach is killing me, like I ain’t gotta go number 2. I gotta go number 1. But I just…my bladder is just dying. And so… I get to pit road and they’re working on the damage and I just close my eyes and I’m like, just try to think of something that will make me go. And then, boom! Out,” he said.
In an attempt to say that it was quite a common occurrence in motorsports, the 23XI Racing co-owner let slip that Tyler Reddick does the same, as well as motorsports legend, Carl Edwards.

Perhaps both drivers have acknowledged their habits in a private setting with Denny Hamlin, but it was still a hilarious bit of information for the fans. The 43-year-old explained that he was never able to do it while racing on purpose, as his body would simply not let go. It may be easier to do that now after Sunday’s events.
“I know many many drivers do this on a regular basis and I never understood how they could do it cause I’ve tried and my body says no. Evidently, Carl Edwards used to do it every week, I think Tyler Reddick does it every week. But I was super paranoid when I got out,” the veteran racer added.
