Denny Hamlin Connects Recent Controversy & Wallace-Larson Incident!

The Cup Series race certainly turned out to be worth it for the fans. Reflecting on the late scuffle between Legacy Motor Club’s Noah Gragson and Ross Chastain, Hamlin felt it was quite similar to Bubba Wallace‘s incident that led to his suspension.

Hamlin said, It looked like uh very similar to Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson from last year, where Kyle Larson kind of ran right up on the door of Bubba Wallace and it causes his car to go right and into the fence, uh again you could say that happened on the last lap as well.”

The Gragson-Chastain incident occurred during the final lap of the race when the #43 car and the #1 Trackhouse Racing car had a few skirmishes coming into the final lap. Furious over Chastain pushing him to the fence, rookie Gragson confronted him after the race in the pit area after a failed attempt to retaliate on the track.

The 24-year-old then grabbed Chastain by his shoulder as they exchanged words. Chastain pulled Gragson and quickly landed a picture-perfect right hook on his face before he could react. Startled by the blow, Noah tried to return fire but was held back by a NASCAR official.

Reflecting on the latest altercation between Gragson and his rival. Hamlin doesn’t put the blame on Chastain as he said, It’s the way these cars work when you are running side by side, I dont think it was anything intentional for sure, on Chastain’s part. It’s just the racing, in like he said,  ‘I left a lane’. Not a lane and a quarter, not a lane and half, he left a lane.”
