Let’s just say, hypothetically, that Denny Hamlin is out of work. And for some reason, he has decided to give singing, a career in music, a shot, you know, just like Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights. And since we’re in our imagination, let’s just say Hamlin goes to American Idol’s audition.

Well, if you consider what he said after the recent Tyler Reddick announcement, the answer to that question would be, ‘Seven Rings’ by Ariana Grande.
“I watched him, I raced against him, I wanted him and I got him,” Hamlin said of signing Reddick for 2024 and beyond. (“I want it, I got it”, for those of you who didn’t understand.)
Anyway, Hamlin went on to describe the reason they decided to go so early for the Richard Childress Racing driver was that he was too talented to be left open in the market as a free agent.
“It’s not unprecedented but it is rare,” Hamlin said, “and so is Tyler.”

This made NASCAR spotter Brett Griffin suggest that Hamlin now needs to do something about it. And even though he’s biding his time for ‘the right moment’, it’s time.
“It’s time for Denny to shut up and do something about it. He has been talking about it. And I know what he may be waiting on, which is if I were him, it would be the playoffs,” Griffin said.

“It wouldn’t be right now. But now, the scoreboard is 2 to Ross Chastain and 0 to Denny Hamlin.”
