Following the announcement of William Byron’s penalties due to his actions on track which saw him spinning Denny Hamlin under caution, journalists asked Hamlin if he was satisfied that NASCAR decided to take an action against Byron. Well, Hamlin had an expected response.

Hamlin replied, “Yeah, sorta. It didn’t help my finish I saw a lot of people react to well he could have made up those spots, well it didn’t change the fact that I could have won the race instead I finished 10th so you gotta account for those points in there as well.”

The Hendrick Motorsports driver had nudged Hamlin a little too hard, right as the caution flags fell, as a form of retaliation for Denny’s actions against him a few laps prior. Byron was later awarded a $50,000 fine and a 25-points duck, for his on-track antics against the JGR driver.

Hamlin was visibly upset after his chances to aim for the win had seemingly deteriorated. However, soon after his comments surfaced on Twitter, fans were not having it and they decided this would be the perfect opportunity to bash the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.

Fans react to Denny Hamlin’s statement on William Byron

Hamlin was called all sorts of things, but the insult that stood out was giving him the tag of a “crybaby.” This is not the first or last time he has or will be called that. His statements in the past unfortunately have also invited quite a lot of hate.

Fans branded Hamlin with all sorts of names, they also called him to be becoming insufferable and that his actions would slowly drive away fans.
