In the latest episode of the Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin opened up about the thrilling Pocono race and the contentious incident involving the #5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Imagine having just half a second to one second to make race-altering choices at breakneck speeds. For Denny Hamlin, it’s a daily struggle. “It’s very, very hard, guys,” the Joe Gibbs Racing driver began, his voice tinged with exhaustion and determination.

The race was a matter of inches, and Hamlin’s aggressive nature had brought him to a critical moment. Fate had other plans as he throttled up, hoping to clear himself past Larson. His co-host Jared Allen asked, “So are you aware of his trajectory in the corner?”

“No, I can’t see it again, I can’t see that. So what you see on TV is it looks simple because there’s a bird’s eye view or it’s the camera angle. But in the car, realize that I, we don’t see anything. So all I see is the line that I’m on especially since he’s behind me at the moment so you know his nose is not equal, not beside you know, he’s I think, he’s up to my door or so. At that time, I don’t see him, I don’t feel him, nothing. So all I see is the line that I’m racing in,” Hamlin revealed.

It is a matter of trusting your instincts, and in the high-stakes game, this means victory or heartbreak. In the aftermath of the race, speculation abounded about whether Hamlin’s move caused Larson’s collision with the wall.

The intensity of competition and the uncanny intricacies of the Next Gen car had given rise to misunderstandings and dramatic confrontations. “We’ve seen it with Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace. Same scenario, me and Chase Elliott. It’s happened to Ross and Noah; that’s what caused that fistfight. It’s just a weird spot arrow spot with these race cars that you know people think like we made contact and knocked him into the wall, “ Hamlin stated.

During the rain-delayed race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin recalled the Chase Elliott incident. Not to mention the famous fist fight after the Kansas Speedway between Ross Chastain and Noah Gragson, where Gragson had admitted he was sick and tired of Chastain’s driving style. Even last year in Las Vegas, an innocent entanglement became a heated dispute. Defending champion Larson inadvertently pushed Wallace into the wall during a high-speed turn. After the initial collision, as the cars separated and headed towards another turn, Wallace took a sharp turn and aimed directly at Larson, initiating a collision.
