Following his induction into the greatest 75 drivers of NASCAR, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver reveals his “next big thing” while sharing a candid conversation he had with his mother during his struggling years.

Denny Hamlin reveals his worse time, almost giving up racing while his mother backed him wholeheartedly!

Joining his co-host and friend, Jared Allen, the show started off with Hamlin sharing the circumstances for his entry into the list. The 23Xl Racing co-owner recalled the interaction with the Chief Executive Officer, Jim France before his induction.

Soon after he briefed Allen about the conversation they had, Hamlin takes a detour down memory lane, recalling the lovely conversation he had with his mother. Mentioning how he almost quit racing, Hamlin is certainly grateful for how things have gotten better since then.

Briefly describing his conversation, Hamlin goes, Its uh, its cool that I, you know my mom said to me, she says would you ever imagined, you know when you are racing at Southside or Langley that you know, you life would’ve taken a turn like this, right? You were on the cusp of not racing anymore, we’re to our final race and you got a lucky break and got seen at the right time and your career just took off down this path that you know look at where you are now compared to where you started,”

Hamlin also cites the “big one” after his induction into the Greatest 75 list!

After sharing the honor of being inducted into the list, the veteran driver also briefly mentions how things go down with the executives contacting the driver before his entry to the list. As he mentioned, he was contacted by Jim France, the Chief executive Officer of NASCAR, while he was in his car, thinking, “Oh sh*t, here we go again, what are they mad about now?”

While France called him to notify him about his entry, the #11 driver is deeply honored to be part of the prestigious event. Soon after Hamlin revealed to his friend the next big one that he is waiting for.

After being inducted into the list, Hamlin eyes the Hall of Fame spot, obviously that’s what is the next part of his career. And from a fan’s standpoint, it’s these genuine and honest gestures that they love about the driver, making him their champion.
