Hamlin’s short track showdown used to take place at tracks such as the Southside Speedway, Richmond Raceway, South Boston Speedway, and Langley Speedway. The races saw Late model cars go around in circles driven by some of the best-known local and regional racing drivers.
However, since Junior and Hamlin were seen discussing the possibility of creating a Late Model All-Star race on short tracks, the enthusiasm of NASCAR fans spiked.
NASCAR fans react to Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr’s idea to bring back short-track showdowns
Dale Jr has been widely applauded for his efforts surrounding the revival of the dilapidated North Wilkesboro racetrack. Even more so, recently, the two-time Daytona 500 winner along with his friend hosted a sold-out event at the venue, which saw him get into a late model car with the iconic sun drop logo printed all over the car.
NASCAR fans showcased their enthusiasm with the concept of an All-star race just for short track-based late-model racing.
