The nature of motorsports often deprives a race car driver of some quality time with his family during the season. The schedule can get so hectic that it is tough to reconcile with your loved ones. However, Denny Hamlin has excelled at doing that. The 51-time Cup Series race winner has been an exemplary dad.

Wishing his daughter Taylor a happy birthday, Denny Hamlin posted a series of images with the caption, “Taylor is in her 11th birthday era.” The first image showcases a picture of the Joe Gibbs Racing driver with Taylor and younger daughter Molly, and as the slides progress, one can see Denny Hamlin’s picturesque surprise for his daughter.

A mural on a rock in the woods seems like a beautiful idea for a birthday surprise. Denny Hamlin and Jordan Fish did that, with the featured message being his Instagram caption again.

Meanwhile, fiancee Jordan Fish had her way of celebrating her daughter’s special day. She took Taylor to an amusement park and revealed pictures of her on the amusement rides on Instagram. As for Denny Hamlin, he is busy preparing for a return from an excruciating shoulder injury. As the Busch Light Clash inches closer, he has announced his intentions to return to racing with full strength.

At the end of 2023, Denny Hamlin revealed that he had been racing through a shoulder injury throughout the playoffs. The injury became a problem in the later stages of the playoffs, dragging the 43-year-old back. Since then, he has been focused on recovering from it and underwent surgery in November to fix it.

However, with the doctors advising a return to racing activities after three months of rest, Hamlin has to choose between staying out of the Clash or risking potential fatigue with it. At the preseason production day, Denny Hamlin revealed, “I’m already back in the sim kind of working through range of motion and trying to get my strength back — strength is going to be the biggest thing that hinders me.”

“But we would actually rather it fatigue ourselves out at the Clash. That way, I’m stronger two weeks from then.”

Denny Hamlin has always been a competitive driver. But that hasn’t stopped him from focusing on his health, either. With his shoulder not operating at 100%, performing some maneuvers on the track is tough, which he normally does. With the L.A. Coliseum short track posing a difficult task, he has taken a different approach in the simulation.

“The Clash is, certainly in the sim, the most challenging track of all the ones that I’ve been working on at the moment,” said the No. 11 Toyota driver. “It is a challenge — it’s a relatively short race. You never really run that many laps under green at one time. So I’m counting on plenty of caution laps like we usually have.
