The super-speedways have always imposed some sort of challenge on NASCAR drivers. The last race was nothing less than a debacle. This past Sunday’s race at the Talladega witnessed a multi-car crash after Bubba Wallace was spun out by Ryan Blaney. As Bubba tried to block the #12 in turns 1 and 2, it ended horribly for him, with Kyle Busch seizing an easy win.

However, in the latest episode of Action Detrimental, Wallace’s team boss, Denny Hamlin confessed that “there doesn’t always need to be a block.”

While commenting on the Talladega race, the co-owner of 23XI Racing Denny Hamlin emphasized Bubba Wallace’s block on Blaney. He highlights, “I guarantee if Bubba Wallace had to do it all over again, he would not have made the second or the third block. Wish we could go back in time.”

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver also reveals, “There is two miles of racing left. I mean passes at that race track for the win happen 200 yards before the start-finish line, especially with these cars, such huge runs. There is so much racing left between turns one and two and the start-finish.”

Hamlin expressed that “If someone gets beside you for the lead, you still got a 50-50 shot at winning.”

Speaking about the Blaney-Wallace tackle, the 42-year-old considers that, “The top line behind Blaney was all scr*wed up. It was disorganized. The bottom line since it was on the yellow line was more formed. He (Bubba Wallace) was gonna push from the inside, more likely to clear Blaney.”

Nevertheless, Hamlin strongly proposes the fact “You don’t have to block. There is only one block that has to be made. That’s right at the start-finish line.”

Denny Hamlin believes that “Someone getting to the outside is not a do-or-die moment for winning.”

The Talladega race saw a neck-to-neck competition between the two friends. Bubba Wallace and Ryan Blaney‘s friendship is deep-rooted. So much so that Wallace had chosen Blaney to be his best man at his wedding. However, after the Talladega incident, there were speculations that the race had caused a dent in their friendship.

However, Blaney easily brushed off any such comments. As per NASCAR.com, he exclaimed, “But you know, everyone’s competitors out there, and it’s not like I’m going to race Bubba any less hard than anyone else. We’re trying to beat him just as much as everybody else, so that definitely stinks when it’s your buddy. Maybe if it’s someone you don’t really like too much, you wouldn’t blink an eye at it, but when it’s your buddy, you’re just like, ‘Man, that just kind of stinks that one of us got turned.”
