The 2023 NASCAR Cup season has been pretty competitive so far. However, in between race weekends, the drivers do get some downtime to relax. Some of them engage in activities that get the blood pumping, like Chase Elliott, who paid dearly after his snowboarding accident. Others, like Corey LaJoie and Denny Hamlin, put on their analysis caps and recap major moments from the last race. However, Bubba Wallace, his teammate Tyler Reddick, and Ty Gibbs decided to have a bit of fun.

Recently, the trio of Toyota drivers elected to partake in some sports of the more Olympic variety. As it happened, they were facing off against a few NHRA drag racers for a NASCAR vs NHRA showdown. The chosen sport was curling, and both sides had plenty of fun out on the ice.

Admittedly, not much is known about who won the showdown, but everyone surely enjoyed themselves. For the fans, it is good to see the drivers bonding with each other in different ways.

This activity comes after Bubba Wallace handed advice to rookie Ty Gibbs

Ahead of the Cup race at the Talladega Superspeedway, Bubba Wallace knew how tough his home track was. Especially considering that he even won this race in 2021, in a rain-shortened event. In an interview with ‘For The Win’, Wallace warned about the respect factor in the race. He was worried that rookie drivers like Ty Gibbs and Noah Gragson would not have much respect for the more seasoned drivers.

He said, “The biggest thing is it starts with respect. So it’s hard for the rookies that come in to have the respect of the guys that have been around for a while just because we know how this race is gonna play out and we know one wrong move can take you out of it.”

“For many superspeedway races just starting out in my Cup career, I was getting left hanging high and dry. And I thought I was making every right move, but apparently, I wasn’t.”

The #23 driver also insisted that the younger drivers stay as far away from altercations as possible. This was probably something that Wallace himself could have learned last year, but now he seems to be older and wiser.

How did the 23XI Racing duo and Ty Gibbs perform at Talladega?

The race was a mixed bag for Wallace, Gibbs, and Tyler Reddick. The #23 driver was running well and could have been in line for a first win of the season and a Playoff berth. Unfortunately, a late block to prevent Ryan Blaney from passing went wrong and triggered a late wreck.

Meanwhile, Gibbs was caught up in an earlier wreck that involved Kyle Larson, Ryan Preece, Kevin Harvick, and many more. On the bright right, at least Reddick was able to scrounge 16th place as the second-best Toyota behind Christopher Bell in 8th.
