As the case is with any popular real-life sport, gaming companies jumped at the chance to turn them into games. The same applies to NASCAR. However, it is safe to say that fans have several bones to pick with the American-based video game developer Motorsport Games.

The company’s latest NASCAR game, NASCAR 21: Ignition, had been riddled with glitches. Now, the company has suffered a new blow, in the form of its CEO stepping down.

Recent challenges faced by Motorsport Games

According to Insider Gaming, Dmitry Kozko’s departure is immediate, and Stephen Hood will be succeeding him. All of this comes on the back of a net loss of $35.9 million in the year 2022. Safe to say, the company was in a bit of a spiral, so desperate times called for desperate measures.

Hence, it explains the massive reshuffle in the management of the $17 million worth company. Of course, this will not be the last that anyone sees of Kozko, because he will still remain as a member of the board.

To say that fans were not happy with the drama going on in the company, would be an understatement. One fan simply said, “Can somebody just kill this company already?”. Others opted to see the bright side of Kozko’s departure from the role, san said on Reddit, “Maybe we will get a halfway decent video game if that happens.”

“Feel like this is the equivalent of just taking a life raft off the Titanic.”

Some hoped that a more well-established company would buy Motorsport Games. They said, “Maybe another company like EA Sports or iRacing could buy Motorsports Games out. It would be a mercy kill at this point”.

Another agreed with the assessment, “That’d be the best case scenario. But with the writing on the wall of the company collapsing. Buying it now vs later would be a notable difference in value”.

A few fans were even hoping to see NASCAR give the license to the popular iRacing platform. They were mad that the sport was approaching small companies with little experience. Of course, NASCAR’s aim was to save as much money as possible, but it eventually compromised quality.
