NASCAR is expanding. And currently, New York City as well as the Middle East seem to be the probable destinations for the stock-car racing series. However, it seems like a NASCAR insider is concerned about how Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch would take this news.
Why? Because there are high chances of NASCAR races being held in Mexico.
Earlier in February, news regarding Kyle Busch being detained at the Mexican airport surfaced online. Busch, along with his wife Samantha was leaving Mexico after spending a vacation there when a handgun was found in his bag at the airport. And since possession of a weapon without approval is forbidden per Mexican laws, the NASCAR driver was detained at the airport.

Although the event was a bit scary for Rowdy, it seems that NASCAR spotters Freddie Kraft and Brett Griffin have found a way to lighten the mood. In a recent episode of Door Bumper Clear, as soon as Bubba Wallace‘s spotter Freddie Kraft heard about NASCAR’s probable expansion to Mexico, he immediately asked, “What the hell are we going to do with Kyle Busch if we go back to Mexico?”
Unable to believe Kraft’s timing of the question, Brett Griffin, spotter for Kaulig Racing, couldn’t stop himself from laughing. He said, “Like is that gonna be a problem?” Suggesting that maybe Kyle Busch would want to sit that one race out, Kraft said that maybe Busch will claim his one-race waiver for Mexico.
Griffin then took another dig at Busch, saying, “Can’t be packing. Gonna pack light when you go to Mexico and Miami (laughing).”
Does Kyle Busch really have to worry about racing in Mexico?
Well, not exactly. According to the statement released by Kyle Busch on his official Twitter handle, the entire handgun possession matter has been resolved with the consent of all the involved parties. Furthermore, Busch also released an apology explaining that he was unaware of the arms possession rule in Mexico.

But yes, there is a strong probability of NASCAR moving to Mexico. Recently, Sports Business Journal‘s Adam Stern talked with NASCAR COO Steve O’Donnell. During their conversation, O’Donnell revealed that the governing authority is in talks with multiple groups in New York City.
