A NASCAR track has supplied some of its services to the reconstruction of the Interstate 95 highway in Pennsylvania after a gasoline-filled tanker truck lost control and caught on fire on June 11. The unfortunate incident resulted in two civilian deaths and has been a sensitive topic.

I-95 is the most prominent highway on the East Coast allowing travelers to connect people from the North to the South. This is why its reconstruction is one of the priority tasks on the list. Pennsylvania Government has continued to keep close tabs on it with President Joe Biden joining the supervision. In a race against time, the authorities turned to NASCAR for help.

The mishap occurred when a gasoline tanker serving Delco-based company Aero Aggregates lost control of the truck and flipped. As a result of the incident, a loud blast made the highway to collapse, leaving debris on the road. While the truck driver’s remains have been found and submitted to local police, another woman on the road succumbed to the fall of the debris. With the obstructions proving to increase traffic and causing problems for common people, authorities have increased their workforce on the site.

Governor Josh Shapiro also looked optimistic about dealing with the problem pretty soon. Pocono Raceway was summoned to help out in the proceedings by PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. Enquiring about the possibility of provisions for a jet dryer, equipment used to ensure traction on asphalt, Carroll managed to convince the President of Pocono Raceway, Ben May, to help them.

The major reason for this was the incoming weather in the next few days. With weather forecasters predicting heavy rain, it would have been difficult to dry out the road. With the help of all the efforts, there have been assuring glimpses from the accident site.

Pocono’s Chevy Silverado was spotted on its way to the reconstruction location. Fitted with a jet engine to dry roads and pavements, May was confident in their equipment as he laid them out. “Between NASCAR and the individual racetracks, we have a lot of equipment to dry racetracks in as quick of a manner as we can to get the competition to resume,” May said.

Governor Shapiro took to Twitter to lay out their plan with the dryer and has relayed information that 12 hours will be required to settle down the dust. This is why they had to reach out to the NASCAR raceway officials.

“We have worked around the clock to get this done, and we’ve completed each phase safely and ahead of schedule. That’s all due to the incredible coordination with our local, state, and federal partners – and thanks to the hard-working men and women of the Philadelphia Building Trades who are making this happen,” said Shapiro acknowledging the contributions in this case as reported by NBC Philadelphia.
