The NASCAR off-season is finally nearing its end. With Busch Light Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium set to take place in less than a month, fans can finally gear up to watch their favorite drivers back in action. However, some fans might be missing their favorites due to varying reasons. Lack of a confirmed seat and no sponsors are some of the main reasons for a driver not being able to participate. One such driver has an offer for a seat but no sponsor in sight.

Danny Bohn needs a sponsor

Part-time Truck Series driver Danny Bohn recently reached out on Facebook for sponsors to help him run at the Busch Light Clash. It would be Bohn’s first-ever Cup Series Appearance after having driven 36 races part-time at Truck level and one Xfinity Race.

His first race in the Truck Series was at the 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 at the Martinsville Speedway. It was in 2021 that Bohn appeared for his only Xfinity race at Daytona International Speedway for Big Machine Racing after the regular driver, Jade Burton, was not approved for the race. Although he has not disclosed the team offering him the ride, he hopes that his post gains enough traction to help him achieve his Cup dreams.

Bohn’s post was reposted on Instagram by ‘nascarrumornostalgia‘. His post read, “This is not anything I typically do, but I’ve been offered the opportunity to run the cup race at Bowman Gray Stadium Racing next month. I’ve been approved by the higher ups to compete. If anyone knows any companies looking to do some marketing we have plenty of space available. Without funding I won’t be participating. We all know I will drive the wheels off it to make the show. DM me if anyone has any ideas. Thank you everyone for the support!”.

Bohn’s plea to fans is to spread the word of his return so companies can reach out to him. Currently, NASCAR is run on being able to secure sponsors. Even teams with a legacy such as Stewart-Haas Racing had to leave the sport and shut down because of a lack of sponsorships. Bohn’s plea is just for one race, so it should be relatively easier for a sponsor to take a gamble on him. His experience may be limited at the NASCAR level, but he is a prolific driver in the modified division.

Danny Bohn has driven at the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Series from 2012 to 2016. In 2012, notching up six top-5 finishes in 11 races. His eagerness to participate in this year’s Clash could stem from the fact that it is being hosted at Bowman Gray Stadium. In August 2014, Bohn won the season finale and the championship in the Modified Division at Bowman Gray Stadium.

That’s not all! In 2022, Bohn also won the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series season opener at Bowman Gray Stadium. It’s safe to say, he was not wrong in writing “I will drive the wheels off” as he most certainly did in the past. After the win in 2022, Bohn said, “It’s pretty awesome to see this crowd. This place is special to me. I’ve been able to do some NASCAR starts and stuff, but it was all because of here. I’m going to come support this place when I can.” Well, in 2025 Bohn has a chance at not only supporting the place but being able to race there at NASCAR’s highest level.

Why Bowman Gray Stadium?

In over half a century, this is the very first time that NASCAR has reunited the Bowman Gray Stadium. Established in 1937, it became the first paved venue to host weekly NASCAR events, introduced to the sport by its pioneers, Bill France Sr. and Alvin Hawkins. It was in 1949 that the track became more popular and a center of attraction for the world of NASCAR.

By 1958, Bowman Gray Stadium had become a key fixture in NASCAR’s schedule, hosting more than 1,000 official races over the years. It remained a prominent site for ARCA Series events until 2019. It was then that the Stadium underwent renovations for approximately $9 million. In March 2024, NASCAR acquired the track in a contract until 2050. The changes were mostly safety-related, with catch fences and SAFER barriers among the key changes. NASCAR’s return to the grounds is like an ode to the heritage that they have held close for so long.

The 2025 season opener was announced last year and in November the tickets were sold out! In November 2024, Justin Swilling, NASCAR Director of Marketing Services said in a statement, “The sellout of The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium speaks volumes about the monumental nature of the event at this historic venue. We’re honored to bring such an incredible race weekend to Winston-Salem that will provide an opportunity to place the stars of Bowman Gray Stadium’s Modified Division in the national spotlight.” One of those stars of the Modified Division is indeed Danny Bohn.

As the NASCAR world gears up to celebrate the return of this storied track, Bohn will be hoping he gets a chance to be a part of history. And it only feels right that he would be a part of it. After all, it is drivers like him who have kept the track alive, racing modifieds and dominating ‘The Madhouse’.
