Things are getting heated and spicy after Daniel Suarez’s dramatic win at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Sunday. For the most part, the community hailed it as the best display of NASCAR racing the sport has seen in a long time, but Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, had a contrasting take on the event. Kraft, despite the photo-finish end to the race, was not a fan of the overall event and even went on to say, “It wasn’t the best Next Gen race.”

Reacting to Freddie’s rather unpopular opinion, Suarez’s fiancee, Julia Piquet, had a rather stern response. For a driver struggling to find his grips with racing of late, surely this win was far from just sheer luck, and this was the response of Julia. Moreover, she went on to call the panel chatting on the “Door Bumper Clear” podcast show clowns for downsizing Suarez’s win. This was not taken well by Freddie, and he came up with his own response on X.

Three wide—Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, and Daniel Suarez all took the checkered flag at the same time at a thrilling finish at the Atlanta race. Beating his two rivals by mere thousands of seconds was Daniel Suarez, thus giving the sport a memorable moment and a milestone to look back on. As far as the Next Gen race is concerned, this has to be among the best races ever, but Freddie Kraft is not sold on this idea.

“It was a great race but it was a plate race…the race was so good yesterday is because of we’re packed up on plate package,” said Kraft on the show. This was certainly not taken well by Suarez’s fiance, Julia, who was quick to brandish her fiery response. She wrote on X, “Leave it up to these 🤡 to downplay not only Daniel’s win.”

She also described it was not luck but sheer skills put on by the drivers for such that photo finish: “the talent it took from the drivers to race that last lap, and the car control that was required. ‘Daniel won the race just because of the circumstances behind him’ ‘he was lucky’🤣🤣🤣 Gotta love the haters folks!”

Clowns and haters are some strong words that Julia used to describe Freddie Kraft and his panel at the show. But interestingly, the spotter had a subtle reply to Julia’s jibe, even thanking her for listening to the podcast.

Superspeedway races are more of a tactical game, everyone knows this by now. Given the circumstances at the Atlanta event, Freddie was partially right in acknowledging that the pack behind the three drivers did play a role in a photo finish. Even Kyle Petty acknowledged it while heaping praise on the race. His argument was against the style of racing, and how circumstances are different in traditional 1.5-mile races.

Kraft took to his X account and wrote, “It has nothing to do with Daniel. Could have been anyone. Every plate race is decided by the circumstances behind the winner. My opinion it does take more talent to run traditional 1.5 mile races over this one. Won’t argue that we are clowns tho, thanks for listening.”

Given that there was a 0.003-second difference between Suarez and Blaney, it certainly could have been anyone’s race between the three drivers.
