Daniel Suarez broke an unwanted streak at the Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday as he finished P5 in a race that saw a whopping 16 cautions. The Mexican-born driver finished outside the top 20 in the last three races, so this was a much-needed result for him. There was a lot of luck involved in how things turned out, but once in a while, everyone needs that much of luck to get their form back on track. Suarez is now looking forward to the next Cup Series race at Talladega after gaining a lot of confidence in Texas.
There is room for improvement but Daniel Suarez is pleased with Texas finish
The Trackhouse Racing star is already in the playoffs as he won at the Atlanta Motor Speedway earlier this season but since then, he has failed to finish inside the top 10. Despite finishing P5 at Texas, Daniel Suarez believes that there is a lot of work still left to be done. The race was a tricky one, and the car was handling differently due to the cooler temperatures and wider track. Nevertheless, it was a well-deserved finish for Suarez who drove a clean and competitive race.

“Yeah, I feel like it was a very tricky day, but we had a good result, so we’ll take it. I think we have a lot of things to clean up but we are going to continue to work and continue to get better,” he said in an interview with Frontstretch. “This one was a little bit cooler so yeah it was a little bit wider and a little bit cooler so yeah, it worked out good,” the Trackhouse Racing star added when asked about the handling.

But that’s not all. If one takes a look at his finishes at the Talladega Superspeedway, there has been a marked improvement in the last couple of years. Before the playoff race in 2022, Daniel Suarez finished in the top 10 at the track only once in 11 attempts. However, he has finished P10 or better in each of the last three races at the track. Pair that up with the confidence of finishing P5 in Texas, and the former Xfinity Series champion is a real dark horse for next weekend’s Cup Series action.
Will Daniel Suarez be able to take his form into next weekend and replicate his Atlanta Superspeedway feat? Only time will tell, but the stats are somewhat in his favor for sure.
