Is Daniel Suarez's perfect honeymoon a sign of his balanced life on and off the track?

It has been a memorable racing season for a Trackhouse Racing star. After clinching a photo-finish win at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Daniel Suarez barely scraped the front row. With the playoffs looming large, the No. 99 driver has a lot on his plate. But for now, things closer to his heart and home are gripping his attention.

After five years of dating, Daniel Suarez and his fiancee Julia Piquet will finally walk down the aisle. And this spectacular occasion would happen along with a special, high-octane event, as Suarez recently revealed.

The NASCAR Cup Series season is known to give little respite to drivers, holding races almost every weekend. However, a multi-week break is coming up soon after the Indianapolis outing. And Trackhouse star Daniel Suarez will reap the maximum benefits from that holiday. He got engaged to Julia Piquet, daughter of three-time F1 champion Nelson Piquet, two years ago. Their relationship has been fruitful in many ways, and finally, the racing couple will tie the knot in Brazil.

That is not all. Daniel Suarez has also signed up for the NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race Aug. 3–4 in São Paulo. Called the Autódromo José Carlos Pace or the Interlagos, this race marks Stage 5 of the 2024 NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race calendar. And Suarez is more than eager to be a part of it.

Bob Pockrass updated his schedule on X: “Daniel Suarez will get married in Brazil and then a handful of days later be in the car for the NASCAR Brazil event Aug 4.” Trackhouse Racing’s official Twitter account also chipped in a perfect response: “The perfect honeymoon.”

Indeed, the Brazil race would be a romantic symbol of Suarez and Piquet’s relationship. Daniel Suarez explained at a media availability, “Brazil is a country that is very close to my heart. Julia (Piquet, fiancée), she’s already from Brazil. Her entire family is in Brazil.”

Besides this special bond, Suarez also maintains a professional relationship with the country. He has competed in Brazil since 2015, wheeling go-karts in endurance races. So the culture and motorsport already hold a special place in his heart.

So the news of the NASCAR Brasil race instantly piqued Daniel Suarez’s interest. He expanded on how he came upon the opportunity. “When I found out that they were gonna be having a NASCAR Brasil race in Interlagos on a race track that is so historic … it was a no-brainer for me. I started having some conversations with NASCAR and NASCAR Brasil, and I got the opportunity, so super excited. Very fortunate to have this opportunity.”

So the upcoming weeks will mark an emotional milestone for Daniel Suarez. And his Brazilian endeavor enthralls a NASCAR executive as well.

Usually known to be a parochial, close-knit sport, NASCAR rarely ventures out of its comfort grounds. The US serves as its primary fanbase. However, in recent years, the sport’s executives have realized the need to grow wings, given the globalization trends overtaking the world. Ranging from welcoming international racers to making a Netflix docuseries, the sport has tapped into several avenues. Holding races internationally may be an effective way, and Daniel Suarez is there to boost the process.

Chad Siegler, Vice President, Chief International Office at NASCAR, said that Suarez’s presence hugely boosts the sport’s exposure to global audiences. “Anytime we have that opportunity to really just bring that exposure internationally, it’s huge. I think another piece that is so critical is for those young drivers coming up, no different than if you’re a driver that comes up in our weekly and touring series here in the U.S. To have that driver like Daniel in front of them to show them, if I want to go racing in the United States, there’s a path, and there’s a pathway there.”

Evidently, Daniel Suarez would take great strides in both his personal life and NASCAR in some time. Best wishes to Daniel for a happy married life and a spectacular Brazil race!
