It has been six years since Danica Patrick last stepped into a racing car. However, she has still been active in the motorsports community, largely as a commentator and pundit. Aside from that, many people on social media know her for her personal beliefs. To be precise, she is notorious for endorsing a wide variety of conspiracy theories.
In a recent tweet, Patrick rued a missed opportunity to confirm some of her theories. Somewhere in Arizona, two drones approached an unidentified anomalous phenomenon. According to video footage, there was contact between one of the drones and the object, before the latter shot down the drone.

Among the conspiracy theories she believes in is the existence of UFOs. In essence, the 42-year-old thinks that aliens are real, and she likely believes in the existence of the infamous Area 51. For those not in the know, Area 51 is a secret U.S. Air Force military base. In popular culture, it has always been associated with several conspiracies involving extraterrestrial life and its study.
She wrote on Twitter, “I guess I should have stayed up later last night! The police came to my neighborhood a few days ago asking if I had seen any drones because they were getting reports. I think it’s us but I what they are doing… who knows. Conditioning us to fear activity in the sky? Testing something? Smelling for something? What do you guys think is going on?!”
While the authenticity of the drones and the clip remains unsure, this is one thing Danica Patrick regrets missing out on. Now, alien sightings in Arizona, where Patrick lives, are not completely uncommon. The infamous 1997 Phoenix Lights incident immediately jumps to mind.

Regardless, the Wisconsin native has never been shy about sharing her views on social media. She has also appeared on a few podcasts and talk shows to share her views on these kinds of conspiracies. When she made an appearance on the BigDeal podcast, Danica Patrick revealed why she often spoke to conspiracy theorists. Patrick explained, “When someone has something to say that’s kind of crazy you try and dig deeper into the fact-checking of how they got their information.”
A few weeks ago, she spoke to former athlete turned-author David Icke about reality being a simulation. Whether it’s conspiracy theories about the moon landing being fake or ones about “Disney and the chemtrails”, Danica Patrick is not afraid of voicing her opinions, and it has landed her in trouble in the F1 world.

Admittedly, her belief in some conspiracy theories has done little to win her many fans. Fans often criticized Patrick for endorsing conspiracies they believed were wild. Some even believed it was grounds to remove her from the F1 commentary panel. However, there are other reasons why she is such a controversial figure in the racing community. As it turns out, many are not too fond of her punditry, especially in NASCAR and Formula One. One incident goes back to 2023 when Patrick discussed the F1 all-female Academy. Simply put, Patrick wasn’t too happy when it was established. She believes female drivers need to come up “like normal”. It would mean a system similar to NASCAR, one Patrick was a part of.
She elaborated, “It’s always an interesting stance I have on it. I think that what makes the sport really popular is great racing – you can have half the field out there women and have it be follow the leader, and it’s not going to be interesting to watch. Good racing, and that’s what we have so much of these days in Formula 1, I mean pretty much everything other than Max is a toss-up for who’s going to be second, third, fourth, fifth that weekend, and so that’s what makes it really appealing”

Add to that the fact she’s replacing Damon Hill on the Sky Sports panel and it’s the recipe for a difficult relationship with fans. Fans believe she’s only a part of the team to appeal to American audiences, and her fumble walking the viewers through the Mexican GP track cemented that belief in their minds. For fans, it’s important to remember Patrick has a plethora of experience in the racing world. While she never raced in F1, she’s still a veteran of open-wheel racing in F1.
Perhaps 2025 can be her year, with a fresh start in a new season
