Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has been known for her unfiltered persona. From joining a sport dominated by men to becoming one of the most successful female drivers she has come a long way. Beyond her racing success, fans also admire her life beyond the steering wheel. She often pens down her thoughts by authoring various books and revealing updates on her personal life.

However, in a recent revelation, the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver opened up about her latest self-discovery. She reflected on a profound realization that reshaped her outlook on life. With a cryptic social media post, Patrick opened up about her recent discovery, which triggered speculation about her decision to retire from NASCAR.

After over 190 race starts in NASCAR Danica Patrick retired at 35 in 2017. She last raced at the 2018 Indy 500 only to crash out on lap 68. However, after her retirement, Patrick continued to explore racing but from the other side. She started her journey as a broadcaster and increased her social media presence.

However, one of her recent Instagram Stories fuelled speculation about her retirement. Patrick shared a life-changing quote from businesswoman Leila Hormozi. The quote read – “You don’t get stronger by doing what you think you can. You get stronger by doing what you think you can’t.” Resharing this quote Patrick wrote, “Took about 35 years to realize this is when I come alive. New challenges.”

It’s worth noting that Patrick announced her NASCAR Cup Series retirement in 2017 at the age of 35. Her recent comments triggered speculation about her NASCAR retirement. However, it remains unclear what Patrick was pointing out in her recent Instagram story. She could be alluding to her transition into F1 broadcasting, a choice filled with doubt for fans. A few weeks ago, Sky Sports announced Patrick as the newest member of their panel. Unfortunately, she replaced former World Champion Damon Hill, a well-liked member of the team.

Fans believed Patrick ousted him and Sky Sports went with it to bring in American audiences through Patrick. It didn’t help when a fellow commentator had to take over from her after Patrick couldn’t walk fans through the Mexican GP track. Yet, Patrick persevered. She stunned fans with a bold move at the Las Vegas GP, jumping out of a plane and parachuting into the city for the race. Perhaps it was the move she needed to make to show fans she brought a special twist to the F1 world.

Despite that fans were quick to point out what Patrick had said during her retirement press conference. While announcing her retirement, Patrick said she wants to do things that make her happy. Notably, she had previously said that she won’t race once she fails to have fun.

“The routine just really wasn’t making me very happy anymore. Life is very short, and it’s important to do things that make you happy. So having a lot of things that are out of my control is a frustrating thing, but I realized it was time to move on and do things in my life that made me smile every day,” she had said during a press conference. After all, Patrick has seen plenty of racing right from her childhood.

Danica Patrick has been one of the most successful female drivers in the racing world. She started her journey at the tender age of 10 with a go-kart. She dominated various local and regional go-kart tournaments and became a racing sensation soon. At the age of 16 Patrick left her high school to join Formula Ford and Vauxhalls in England. She dominated the Formula Ford series by finishing second. In 2002 Patrick returned to the United States to drive in Toyota Formula Atlantic open-wheel cars. Despite not winning any races in that series Patrick qualified for the Indy 500 race.

In her maiden drive at the 2005 Indy 500 Patrick recorded the fastest lap in practice and became the first woman to lead the race. She led the race for 19 laps on three different occasions and won the Rookie of The Year Award. Her biggest achievement in IndyCar came in 2008 when she won the Firestone IndyCar 300 race and became the first woman to do so.

Patrick’s journey into NASCAR started in 2012 when she decided to join Tony Stewart’s Stewart-Haas Racing. She took charge of No. 10 Chevrolet and had ten race starts. Despite not winning any race in her six-year-long career Danica Patrick named some iconic records.

In 2013, at Daytona 500 she became the first woman driver to start from pole. Her amazing racing skills earned her career-best eighth finish and established her as the first woman to start from pole and lead a lap in NASCAR history.  However, after two poor seasons in NASCAR Patrick decided to part ways and embark on a new journey as a broadcaster.
