Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Xfinity Series team, JR Motorsports, was having serious troubles in the race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Dale Jr’s two drivers, Justin Allgaier and Sam Mayer, struggled to get through to their team via radio. Mayer, in particular, was having a hard time as his conversation with the team was shared by reporter Matt Weaver via his X account.

“I unplugged my cord because I couldn’t handle it anymore.” Despite tuning into a different frequency, the result was more or less the same. The situation got so bad that Mayer, for the time being, had to switch off the radio and lose contact with his spotter. “Kevin Hamlin: Okay, I’m turning one off because it’s useless.”

Both Allgaier and Mayer were hearing nothing but constant beeps as if someone was trying to relay Morse code. Running at New Hampshire Motor Speedway is an arduous task, and given that the race has been full of twists and turns, this issue may have likely hampered their ability to drive like they usually do. There were reports that Sam Mayer’s radio issue was resolved, but there was no update on Allgaier’s issues.

Making the most of this situation was FOX reporter Bob Pockrass, who saw the funny side of this whole ordeal. Taking to X, he wrote, “actually that beeping radio is going to be used if Christopher Bell wins so that when he comes in the media center, they are going to play that as he talks to make sure he doesn’t spill any more secrets.”

Bob Pockrass referred to Christopher Bell’s fumble, where he accidentally revealed Chase Briscoe as the new JGR driver. With Martin Truex Jr retiring at the end of this season, Bell was asked about his potential role as a leader in the JGR team. What did he say? “I don’t think there really is a leadership role in that aspect, and whenever Chase comes into the car…” That was it. The damage was done. He knew it, and the entire conference room knew it. Even so, he tried to do some damage limitation: “Whenever we have a new driver into the 19 car…” but it was to no avail.

Soon, Frontstretch caught up with Chase Briscoe at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway Flat Track. When asked if he’d seen what Bell did, Briscoe revealed, “I still haven’t seen it because I have no signal here. But he texted me right before we went hot lap when he said, ‘Chase, I’m sorry, I messed up really bad.’ But I haven’t got to see any of it yet. I’m sure when I get back after tonight, I’ll get blown up pretty bad. But yeah, typical Christopher.” In fact, once he got back his cell service, he even joked about the ordeal.

“Took a break from social media the last couple days. What’s been the big topics lately, did I miss anything?” Briscoe tweeted. And, well, after Bob Pockrass’ sarcastic post, which took a dig at both JR Motorsports and Christopher Bell, Chase Briscoe wasn’t the only one to joke about the situation. The NASCAR community joined in, too!

Amid claims of foul play, fans appreciated Pockrass as “Bell chases down the checkered flag”

During the Drivers’ Meeting at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Bob Pockrass even reported that NASCAR’s Senior Vice President of Competition, Elton Sawyer, started by “asking Christopher Bell if he has any announcements he wants to make.” It’s safe to say the 29-year-old hasn’t caught a break this entire weekend.

That said, fans were surprised to see Pockrass get candid and share his take on the silly season drama. And because the witty tweet had that touch of sarcasm – which the NASCAR community usually relates to the X user named Nascarcasm (as the name suggests) – one fan noted, “@nascarcasm he’s getting good at this.” Well, Pockrass is probably learning from the best because who didn’t enjoy reading every tweet Nascarcasm posted about Bell’s slip-up? Remember the “Remind me to never tell [Christopher Bell] my social security number”?

Keeping up Bob’s pace and following up on his hilarious prediction, a user added, “So if he wins today, will your headline say, ‘Spoiler alert! Bell chases down the checkered flag?’” Well, Christopher Bell did win, and ironically, he had Chase Briscoe right behind him in P2.

It’s not even a debate that Bob Pockrass is indeed the most trusted and reliable source for news in the NASCAR scene. However, no one expected to see him pop out and add his witty flavor to the ongoing silly season chaos. Left in awe of their favorite NASCAR reporter, a few others responded, “Bobby P 😂 my goat” and “Bob. You’re an angel. You keep it up, sir.”

Interestingly, Kyle Larson added to this narrative, too. Although his tweet wasn’t in response to Pockrass’ update and came earlier in the weekend, it was hilarious just the same. After watching Christopher Bell say “Chase” would be joining JGR, the Hendrick Motorsports driver roped in his teammate, Chase Elliott. Larson tweeted, “Man, totally blindsided by this news! Wishing @chaseelliott the best on his new adventure at @JoeGibbsRacing. Have enjoyed you as a teammate! 😂”

However, not all reactions were about the Chase Briscoe situation. Whenever such incidents happen on the racetrack, fans supporting the drivers who got the short straw always express their concern. The JRM supporters were skeptical of the foul play, stating that someone intentionally tried to put off the drivers. “Could be someone messing with their signals.” “Something tells me someone in the stands is doing it.”

To be fair to Bob Pockrass, and as mentioned earlier, his prediction did come true. Christopher Bell did win the Sci-Aps 200 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. So, who knows? Maybe he has a lot of secrets hidden in his bag as well.
