The Earnhardt family has never failed to amaze NASCAR fans. The Intimidator and Junior gave fans the best on-track experience. After Dale Sr. passed away, Dale Jr. continued his family legacy. Even after Junior walked out of DEI after the dispute with his mother, he served as a racer for years to come. He later became the owner of a team, and now, a new opportunity awaits him as an analyst. But, beyond his team and the contribution to the sport, Dale and Amy do something much more interesting. They share insider updates on drivers and their lives beyond racing through their podcasts.
After exchanging the “I do” in 2016, the Earnhardt couple have built themselves a better life with their two daughters, Isla and Nicole, lighting up their world. But marriage isn’t all picture-perfect, and Amy’s honest about that. “That is marriage,” she once quipped, laughing with Dale about their biggest fears—like his wildest NASCAR revelations or her hilarious take on his long bathroom breaks. “He exists now memory,” she posted once, poking fun at how he disappears into his own world. It’s these little glimpses—raw, funny, and oh-so-human—that show a love built on trust and humor.
But most important are their daughters, who’ve turned their home into a whirlwind of love and laughter. Amy’s shared so many tender moments—like the girls leaving treats out for Santa Claus or playing sheriff in the jailhouse on their sprawling $5.2 million property. Parenting’s a balancing act, though. She’s admitted Dale’s soft-heartedness can get in the way of her stricter side. “That’s absolutely Dale! Everything they do anything that’s like stinkery, I just tell Dale that’s his genetics. ‘What’s wrong with your kids? That’s you.’” She’s teased him when their daughters channel his wild streak. And Dale’s not off the hook as Amy’s even called out his impolite habits, the kind his kids now shame him for, “We’re three girls ganging up against one guy [Dale Jr.].”

But here’s where the story gets sweeter than candy, straight from Junior‘s own lips. “Love affection. I communicate that. I’ll tell Amy every day that I love her, that she’s beautiful. I’m always trying to tell her. Every morning I get up, I gotta hug everybody. I gotta say good morning. I gotta say I love you. And so that’s like a thing that’s like a routine of mine. And it’s just more of that. Like when you have, when you introduce the first girl into the family and then the second girl, you’re just doubling, tripling it up on all of this, all this awesomeness, you know. And they, Amy, both those girls, they love you so unconditionally. Selfishly, the most coolest thing as a dad to be in a room, a house full of women that just adore you. Right.” Well, looks like it’s a man laying bare his soul, showing us what keeps him going.

Every morning, without fail, Dale starts his day with this routine. He gets up, wraps his arms around Amy, Isla, and Nicole, and tells them he loves them. It’s not a grand gesture—it’s simple, steady, and real. He’s not afraid to admit how much he craves that affection, how he needs to give it and get it back. When Isla came along, then Nicole, that love didn’t just grow—it multiplied, filling their home with what he calls “all this awesomeness.” And for Dale, the best part? Being surrounded by women who love him unconditionally.
Amy’s right there in the thick of it, too. She’s confessed to her own quirky habits—like escaping the daily chaos in ways that surprise even her. “So sometimes, I say I’ve got errands to run. And I just get in my car and drive around.” They even laughed about Dale Earnhardt Jr. losing it over her embarrassing belly ring story from years past. Together, they’re raising two little girls who mirror their dad’s wild side, keeping Amy on her toes and Dale beaming with pride.
She’s even hinted at his weird obsessions—like one that felt like having another kid in the house—or his annoyance when she teases him about Halloween costumes. She revealed, “He tends to hide the weird stuff, and this goes back to feeling like I have another child in the house to take care of because he knows it’s something he’ll get nagged for.” It’s a partnership full of playful jabs and deep devotion.

But he had a tough time keeping it up with the woman in his father’s life – Teresa. Dale Jr. shared it all with Danica Patrick on her 2021 “Pretty Intense Podcast,” and man, it’s heavy.

Junior would clash with his step-mom regularly
Dale Jr. was six when his mom’s house in Kannapolis, North Carolina, went up in flames. “I was living with mom in a real small house in Kannapolis (North Carolina), and the house is on fire, big time on fire.” A day or two later, he and his sister Kelley were dropped off at their dad’s garage in Mooresville. Their mom, broke and jobless, sent them to live with Dale Earnhardt and Teresa, his third wife.
Junior barely knew his dad. “I only have one or two memories of him before that,” he told Patrick. And Teresa? Instant tension. “We were sprung into her life,” he said. “She was with Dad and thinking she had this vision of her future, and bam! Here come two kids from his previous marriage, and they’re just gonna plop into this household, and she’s gotta adjust her expectations of her future with Dad.” They clashed hard. “Me and Teresa, we’d butt heads hard,” he admitted. “I understand her frustration, but it was just weird.”
Years later, after the Intimidator died in that brutal 2001 Daytona 500 crash, things got worse. Junior raced for Dale Earnhardt Inc., his dad’s pride, but Teresa ran it her way. By 2007, at 33, he’d had enough and left for Hendrick Motorsports. Their bond? Shattered. “It was weird for 25 years,” he said. Teresa eventually folded DEI, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. bought back the iconic No. 8 last year as he hit 50.
