It’s no secret that Dale Earnhardt Jr. was as mischievous as a kid can be in his childhood. Remember the time he shared the story of his Gameboy? Well, Junior wanted to buy this video game, so he stole $80 from Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s coin jar. When ‘The Intimidator’ found out, every room in the house was locked down for Junior to enter, except for his own. And well, there are even stories of how he misbehaved in school and got belted by Dale Senior as a true display of parental justice. Also speaking of school…this recent story tops it all.

So before going to military school in the 7th or 8th grade…Junior attended normal schools. However, often changing them, and moving around. Well, the reason for changing schools is not known, but according to Junior, it was probably due to his mischief. Anyway, he landed at this Christian school, made a ton of friends, and was having the time of his life. But wherever Junior is, trouble always finds him. We think getting expelled before your first winter break has got to be some kind of record! Well, to be fair, he wasn’t doing very kid-like stuff.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the magazine he doesn’t remember owning!

Dale Jr. had almost forgotten this particular incident, but recently he was at the Amazon Prime shoot. He’s on their broadcast booth this season…so probably something related to that. But anyway, there he met a guy who told him that Junior and his dad went to this same Christian school. And that kind of opened floodgates of memories. And recently on the Dale Jr. Download’s live stream, there was someone watching the podcast from their school. So Junior’s panelists were amazed, thinking if it was a kid…hiding from his teachers, watching it.

This led the conversation to Dale Jr. sharing his own mischievous school memories. He said, “This young guy that I met at the shoot, he goes yeah you’re my dad, and you and two other guys, he named these two other kids, he’s like, y’all hung out every day, y’all are friends, and y’all spend a lot of time. He’s like, ‘My dad told me one of the times that you got in big trouble you brought a Playboy magazine to the classroom.’ I don’t remember that and he’s like yep that’s what Dad said. He’s like, ‘You brought it to the classroom, you whipped it out, and were looking at it. I can’t believe that this is even possible…I would do this in a Christian School.'”

So apparently this school was called Southview Christian School. And, here the teachers wrote students up for misbehaving in class. The rule was, if you get it 8 times, you are expelled. And it’s hardly a guess how many Dale Earnhardt Jr. got. This was a new school Junior had moved to, and he was having fun. It was easygoing, and the kids were friendly. But the only problem was this rule.

“It was like I was brought in and accepted immediately, and it was just a really great class, yeah, and I remember where our classroom was up in the top of the gym. And I remember having immediately connecting, and making like 10-12 friends right away and just having a great time. And I was going to get expelled. And I was probably trying too hard and being too much, acting out too much, talking in class… If you got wrote up eight times before the winter break, that was it. You’d have to leave. I got wrote up right before the break, it wouldn’t process till we got back. My thought was I was going to be expelled when we returned from Christmas break,” Junior added.

But to Junior’s luck, he wasn’t returning to the school anyway. After the winter break, his parents had planned to send him to military school. But imagine if Sr would have found out about this, it would have probably been harsher than military school. Or something maybe like the time he stole those $80!

Dale Junior literally fished out the money

Well, in the previous case, Junior got written up “for just talking in class, being a jokester, not paying attention, and not listening.” Other than the Playboy thing, some of these could have been ignored. Getting expelled for talking in class is a bit much. But the ‘$80 out of the jar’ story was all Junior’s fault, and he probably got what he deserved. But Junior being Junior, he was actually proud of the robbery.

Sharing that story, he had said, “Although I got in trouble for pulling that $80 out of my dad’s change jar. I was really proud of myself for the ingenuity. You know the big glass water bottles? The old ones, this is in like the mid-80’s. He had this jar in his room, ever since I’d been there. He’d throw all his pocket change, when he’d get home from work or wherever, in this jar.”

The pure genius was how Junior took it out from the Jar. He went to the garage, picked out his favorite car from the Intimidator’s collection. Then pulled out the antenna from the car, put duct tape on one end, and used it like a fishing rod. And after all this, Junior would have gotten away with this heist. But the housekeeper saw him and told Dale Sr. and Teresa. And that was that!
