McReynolds stated, “If you look at next year, even though we don’t have the schedule yet, we’re actually moving forward. We’re going to do something that NASCAR has never, ever, ever done.”
“We’re going to race on the streets of downtown Chicago. But you know what? We’re also taking a look back in the past, and we’re going back to a short track that ran its first race in 1947.”
The legendary Crew Chief’s words were not appreciated by the NASCAR community at large. They called his statement out to be scripted by NASCAR itself.
NASCAR Fans react to the statement of Larry McReynolds
Fans immediately pointed out that his statement did not even sound like something a normal person would say and called out NASCAR for asking him to say what they wanted him to say.
Fans stated, “He’s saying what ever the hell Nascar wants him to say.”
“Heard carjackers are practicing climbing in and out of car windows“
“Of course, this is the greatest day in NASCAR history and the sport is doing great Larry Mac is collecting checks from FOX and NASCAR… wouldn’t expect him to say anything different.”
“To hell with that BS street course in Chicago. It’s going to suck if they even run it. Going back to North Wilkesboro is going to be EPIC. Need more of that!!!”

“NASCAR made a huge mistake of taking a race from Road America and giving it to Chicago. If NASCAR wanted to race at Chicago so badly, they can race at Chicagoland Speedway and take a race from Atlanta, Texas or replace the Charlotte Roval with this.”
“When something works you stick with it. NASCAR wonders how they can get their old fan base back and that will never happen because of stupid things like this. There’s one thing people don’t like and that’s change especially in NASCAR. Racing in the str… See more.”
“I am sorry Larry, but I rather have a short track then Chicago.NASCAR on race tracks. Not streets.”
