The last Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway saw JR Motorsports‘ 20-year-old driver clinch a jaw-dropping victory. Sam Mayer, driving his No. 1 Chevrolet dashed to receive the checkered flag ahead of his teammate, veteran Ryan Sieg. The victory cheered up Sam Mayer and his team, as they began preparing for the playoffs. Team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr took to his X account to congratulate the driver. With this boosted confidence, Mayer arrives at Talladega to maintain his winning streak. However, a unique gift unexpectedly moved Sam Mayer.
Sam Mayer’s “golf” wish was fulfilled!
A couple of days back, JR Motorsports revealed a partnership with First Bank of Alabama, a venerable institution known as the state’s longest-running bank. They are joining forces with the No. 1 team, helmed by young Sam Mayer. This partnership will be prominently showcased during the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on April 22. First Bank of Alabama’s president and CEO Chad Jones was joined by Mayer on the occasion of ‘Kids’ Day at Dega’. Jones had Mayer remember his own saying after winning the $100,000 at COTA. Dale Jr’s young gun had said, “I’ll probably go golfing everyday until I run out of money.” Holding on to that, Jones said, “I have brought you some golf tees, so that you’ll never run out. And imagine this, they’re sponsored. But also, I think you picked up a nickname? What’s your nickname?” Mayer replied, “Superrr Sam”
After this conversation, they handed over their cape to Mayer. Indeed a great gesture, and the perfect gift for the driver going ahead to the upcoming Xfinity clash at Talladega. Mayer was also seen spending some quality time with kids, through autographs and photo sessions.
