Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy revisited a wild moment from their early dating days tied to Jessica Simpson. During their Bless Your Hardt podcast, Amy brought up how celebrities swarmed the Daytona 500, saying, “Jessica Simpson’s coming to perform, and she did a media interview where she talked about how she had had a dream where you and her got married in a treehouse.”

“I was a fan before I heard that… I was like, can you bring her by the bus, I want to meet her,” she recalls. Dale shuts it down, saying, “No, I don’t think I want to mess with that.”

In 2008, Jessica Simpson’s performance at Lowes Motor Speedway before the Bank of America 500 had a subtle nod to Dale Jr. through her attire. Now, he has moved on, and so would Jessica. Dale Jr. is now blissfully married to Amy and is the father of two daughters, Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine.

He has seen the peak stardom of his father, Dale Sr., in his prime, both on and off track. So, he is used to handling big names around him. But what he did with this prominent American figure is one for the history books to remember.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s attitude once surprised a former President

Dale Earnhardt Jr. recalled a memorable phone call with former President George W. Bush after clinching the 2004 Daytona 500. Speaking on his Dale Jr. Download podcast, the NASCAR icon shares how his laid-back style catches Bush off-guard.

“As soon as you start talking to him, you realize he’s just one of the guys,” Earnhardt says of Bush, who attended the race and called to congratulate him post-victory. Standing in the media center, Earnhardt took the call mid-interview, unfazed by the presidential interruption.

Bush, the 43rd U.S. President, chuckled at Earnhardt’s nonchalant tone.George W. Bush [said] Good job today, appreciate you. You’re representing. Being a great citizen. You’re being an awesome American. I was like, thanks a lot, man. I appreciate it,” recalled Junior. Earnhardt didn’t change his approach, even for a world leader, reflecting his down-to-earth nature.

His wife Amy chimed in and called Bush “that uncle you’ve known,” highlighting the former president’s approachable nature.

This isn’t the first presidential NASCAR cameo. George H.W. Bush attended the 1992 Pepsi 400; however, Earnhardt’s easygoing response turned it iconic. No wonder we know how he handles himself on his podcast. For Earnhardt, it was just another story proving that racing and relatability go hand in hand.
