During an interview with The Athletic, Junior was asked about a pop culture or lifestyle debate: “We all have annoyances in our lives, and I chose five that I felt could be moderately irritating to you. So, in order of annoyance, these are, 1) ‘Bluey’; 2) finding rodents in the house; 3) both of your kids getting colds at the same time; 4) race start times that are too late; and 5) the Dallas Cowboys.”

The two-time Daytona 500 champion took his time explaining his daughter’s love for Bluey and how he has to bear with it. “What irritates me about ‘Bluey’ is—and I’ll be perfectly honest. I think I’m a really decent father. I’m very pleased with my fathering. I believe I am present in their life, that I am available to them, and that they are aware of where I am.—
“But then we watch ‘Bluey’ and the kids say, ‘Come on, Dad, do this. Come ahead, Dad, act like this.’ So my kids watch Bluey every episode and consider their father as their best buddy. Constantly accessible. Always present.
“So my daughters, especially Isla, have the same expectations of me.”
