In just under two weeks’ time, the LVII Super Bowl will kick off. The mega NFL event usually falls close to NASCAR’s own mega event, the Daytona 500. Back in 2007, NASCAR was helping promote the XLI edition of the NFL. Back then, the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears were facing off to decide the National Football League champion. Naturally, Dale Earnhardt Jr was roped in for the promotion as the face of the sport.

The ensuing commercial for Budweiser had a distinct Mad Max vibe to it. It featured Dale Jr’s #8 Budweiser car driving in the desert, being chased by several other cars and motorbikes. The chasers were seen wielding all sorts of weapons and trying to get to Dale Jr’s car. At one point, one assailant landed on the car’s roof, but the NASCAR star managed to shake him off.

What else happened to Dale Earnhardt Jr in the commercial?

The next obstacle was dodging a bunch of Molotov cocktails as they exploded around the car. When two cars tried to box him in, Dale Jr accelerated, which resulted in the cars colliding with each other and crashing hard. Unfortunately, things got worse for Dale Jr, as he found his way blocked by several cars. In time, they surrounded him and he was forced to clamber out of his #8 car.

As he stepped out, he said, “Okay guys, I told you. Just because I’ve got Bud on the car, doesn’t mean I’ve got Bud in the car.”

Safe to say, the advertisement was pretty hilarious and Dale Jr probably got a massive kick from filming it. The segment ended with the pursuers apologizing and then asking for an autograph. As for the actual Super Bowl game, the Colts defeated the Bears with an eventual score of 29–17.
