Brenden Queen has made quite a name for himself, hasn’t he? The 27-year-old, nicknamed ‘Butterbean’ won the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock championship this year, the first for his team Lee Pulliam Performance. The Virginia native has built quite a good reputation because of his performances this season, showcasing that he can compete against the very best in Late Model Stock racing beyond his hometown track of Langley Speedway.

However, his future in Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s co-owned racing series is now looking uncertain. The part-time Truck Series driver posted a cryptic message on X, prompting speculation on social media about the racing driver’s future in the CARS Tour.

Is Queen on the verge of a new career move?

Talent always shines. Brenden Queen learned this the easy way after being introduced to dirt racing by John Staton. Despite having no experience on dirt tracks, the Virginia native was pushed to try out Stanton’s Late Model, and before he knew it, he began excelling on clay. This breakthrough led him to meet Lee Pulliam, whose team was struggling at that point. That’s how Butterbeans’ journey in the CARS Tour began, thanks to a chance given by Pulliam who thought he was the right fit.

The decision proved to be the right one. In the last two years, the pair have won six CARS Tour races, including consecutive runnings of the Hampton Heat and the 2023 Thanksgiving Classic. Before Brenden Queen came into Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s racing series, he had already become a force to be reckoned with at the Hampton, Virginia facility, winning thrice on the track. Butterbean had also won the track championship at East Carolina Motor Speedway in 2016, cementing his reputation as a bright prospect. However, his time in the competition might be at an end, as he posted a cryptic message featuring just four emojis, “✍️✍️✍️🏁”.

Naturally, fans on social media began speculating what the message meant. The 27-year-old participated in three Truck Series races in 2024 for Tricon Garage, driving the No. 1 Toyota. He finished fourth on his debut at the 2024 Wright Brand 250 at North Wilkesboro Speedway and ended his following two races in 19th and 20th places, respectively. However, given his championship victory in the CARS Tour, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he may have secured a full-time seat with Tricon Garage for the 2025 season.

Brenden Queen received an outpour of support from the Late Model Stock Car racing community when the announcement was made about his part-time Truck Series participation. The Virginia native said, “It was hard to keep it a secret. You want to tell all your fans so they can get excited, but what a day it was. This is something I’ve dreamed of, and to see how many people supported the news was really important to me.” While nothing is confirmed yet, if Butterbean does secure a full-time seat at Tricon Garage, he will be living his dream during the 2025 season.
