Dale Earnhardt passed away 24 years ago, but his legacy lives on. And it is getting stronger by the day, as his grandson Wyatt Miller continues to achieve laurels in the racing world. His son, Dale Earnhardt Jr., is a NASCAR icon, having accumulated 26 Cup race wins over two decades. His sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller co-owns JR Motorsports. Although she did not pursue full-time racing, her son Wyatt is more than making up for it.
The 14-year-old speedster stumbled into motorsports on a Midwest trip in 2020 and has dazzled ever since. The fourth-generation driver is a rising star in dirt racing, competing mainly in micro-sprint cars as well as in Legends cars and outlaw karts.

It’s in the family. Ralph Earnhardt began the tradition, as he won the NASCAR Sportsman Championship in 1956. His son Dale Sr. remains a legend of the sport – having accumulated 7 Cup Series titles and 76 race wins. Dale Earnhardt Jr. continued the same and won two Xfinity Championships (1998 and 1999) and now pursues an active career in podcasting and broadcasting.
Now, his nephew is prolonging this high-octane family tradition. Wyatt Miller has already established a strong position at Millbridge Speedway near his home in North Carolina. Competing in the A-Class Wing Micro Sprint Division, he already owns two championships at the racetrack.
Wyatt Miller updated his year’s winnings on Instagram after he posted a runner-up finish. He could be seen posing with the big trophy with a $200 cheque. “Celebrated the 2024 season at the @millbridgeracin banquet the other night. I was able to finish 2nd in points in my @factoryqrc open. It was awesome to run the open division regularly. Looking forward to the 2025 season!” Wyatt was the Restricted Micro Champion (2022) and the Beginner Box Champion (2021) at Millbridge.

The young Earnhardt also boasts of other achievements. In 2020, his debut year, Wyatt Miller clinched the English Creek Nationals title and the Mississippi Thunder Battle of the Wings. Dale Earnhardt Jr.‘s nephew also owns the 2023 Happy Rock Rumble Outlaw 250. In 2024, he clinched the prestigious Golden Driller trophy at the Tulsa Shootout. His parents know how to push him to the top slowly, as Wyatt’s father L.W. Miller said after he clinched his first championship in 2021. “It was a really good learning experience for Wyatt… We built our schedule for his first season around the points races at Millbridge to run for the championship.”
Yet Wyatt is apparently already pulling out the big guns.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s nephew tried a new form of dirt racing in August 2024. Wyatt Miller made his short course off-road debut at the Dirt City Off-Road National at Dirt City Motorplex. Driving the #73 for Ryan Beat Motorsports, the micro sprint racer impressed people in both Pro-Spec races. Three of his rivals – Dylan Parsons, Chris Van Den Elzen, and Nick Visser fought for the lead most of the day. But then a caution let in Wyatt. Although he could not catch rival Dylan Parsons, Miller staved off Chris Van Den Elzen’s efforts to secure second place in the first race. “Three spots better than I thought I could do,” Miller quipped.
The second race was packed with drama. Nick Visser lost control and collided with Van Den Elzen, leaving the latter with a flat tire. Yet Visser recovered and went to the front – never letting go of the lead. Meanwhile, Miller held off a hard-charging Parsons. He passed the latter for another runner-up finish. This marked a significant milestone for the young speedster, as he commented on his improvement: “It was definitely more than yesterday. Took me longer to get up there.” Dale Jr.’s nephew is getting familiar with short-track racing, a crucial component of NASCAR.
