Coming full circle from Franklin, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s driver is all revved up to conquer the thrilling road course action at Road America, one of the world’s finest racing circuits. However, this challenging track underwent a major resurfacing in October, receiving a pit lane makeover, precise grading, a fresh base layer, and a brand-new asphalt surface.

Young Sam Mayer, brimming with excitement, foresees lightning-fast speeds on this track, and he’s leaving no stone unturned with his crew chief, Taylor Moyer, to fine-tune their stock-car setup for the race. What makes this event even more special for him is the fact that it’s the very race track he honed his skills on during his early days of practice.

In an exclusive interview with Fox Sports, Mayer eagerly expressed his desire to clinch his first win of the season at Road America. He raved about the track, claiming, “Road America is one that is super high on my list, especially for the road courses. It’s got everything a race car driver wants and a race fan wants. So it’s definitely super high on my list and definitely a lot of other people’s lists.”

Confident in his growth as a driver, Mayer believes he’s leaps and bounds ahead of where he was a year ago. With newfound wisdom, he knows he’s better equipped to capitalize on different race scenarios and improve his performance, leaving last year’s struggles far behind him.

In his second full-time season, Sam Mayer is steering the No. 1 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, and his passion for road course racing has led him to the thrilling NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Road America on July 29. But that’s not all; he’s fired up to take on other legendary tracks like Fontana’s Auto Club Speedway, the roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the iconic Bristol Motor Speedway.

While Mayer keeps pushing for his elusive first Xfinity Series victory, he has his eyes set on the ultimate prize: becoming a Cup Series driver.
