The Grant Park 220 has been a great success for NASCAR. Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding the Chicago track, such as heavy rain, NASCAR’s great leadership made the history-creating race a huge success. This success didn’t come easy, of course. There were so many things that happened before the race that at one point, the race seemed impossible to happen.
Despite the race being a success, there are people who scrutinized NASCAR for the weekend. Dale Earnhardt Jr‘s Ally, in a recent podcast, talked about NASCAR scrutinizers and made some jaw-dropping statements. He further talked about how we should appreciate the good NASCAR did and overlook a controversial decision made in Chicago. But what was more interesting was TJ Majors describing the atmosphere of the Chicago track.

In the recent podcast of “The Dale Jr. Download,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. was accompanied by his ally and co-host Mike Davis and TJ Majors. During the podcast, Mike Davis went ahead talking about how successful Grant Park 220 was, but despite that, there are people who scrutinize NASCAR. Even though NASCAR made a restart call after the traffic jam during the race, Davis took NASCAR’s side and praised it for making Chicago a success.
Replying to the NASCAR scrutinizers, Davis said, “Anybody that wants to scrutinize NASCAR can just go take it somewhere else because frankly they should be commended.” Davis further talked about how he has no problem with the restart call made by NASCAR and said, “I have no problem with that call. Would I have liked to see it go halfway, of course.”
Moving forward, Davis appreciated NASCAR and said, “But with what they had all weekend, I was just very appreciative that they don’t listen to the social media noise and the and you know and even us our opinions we’re always going to bark opinions. This car did a fantastic job this weekend. They should be commended.”
We, of course, cannot ignore the heavy rain that made it appear literally impossible for the race to even start. But still, NASCAR dealt with it and achieved success with the race. Davis meant the same when he said, “The fact that we got those races, even on the track, I was just like, you know what to scrutinize any deeper we could. We could go nitpick, but you know what? There no reason to nitpick. In this case, they got dealt the weather blow it. It was not just weather, it was biblical rain, and they were able to make.”
Well, even though the restart call might not have been a favorite moment for any NASCAR critics, we cannot ignore the fact that NASCAR has created history this weekend. No one thought that it would be so much fun to watch the stalk cars race on a street course.
But it wasn’t just fun, it was an outstanding race to experience. For those who are yet to listen to the episode, TJ Majors in the same podcast talked about what it felt like to be present on the track that day.

TJ Majors shared his experience of Chicago in detail from the perspective of someone standing at the front stretch. He said, “But that front stretch, the vibe that was there Was incredible, the people that were watching the race.”
Majors further added, “I mean, it was excitement from another level that I’ve witnessed in a long time, and it was just the first time fans, man, there were kids there jumping up on the railing like these cars are going by.”

The NASCAR spotter also shared what the crowd was like at the stands, when he said, “You know how you walk into a football stadium for the first, like even if you haven’t been there, right? You know, you walk out of that tunnel, and you see the field for the first time. It’s just like, wow, I mean, this is really cool. That’s what the place looks like, man.”
Majors also talked about how loyal the crowd was there in Chicago. He said, “And I mean these people, it was pouring rain. I mean, it was raining harder than I’d seen it rain in a long time. And these people were still there, and as soon as that rain quit, it was like a light switch, man. They were filing in and ready to go.”
