Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Wife Amy Gets Emotional as Her Daughter’s Love for Reading Enthralls Her

In many NASCAR families, stock car racing has been a generational sport. Just look at the Harvick family or the Busch family, for example. Kevin Harvick’s 11-year-old son Keelan and six-year-old daughter Piper have already taken a liking behind the wheel, as has Kyle Busch’s eight-year-old son Brexton. However, when it comes to the NASCAR royalty Earnhardt clan, things seem to be headed in a different direction. Belonging to a family of great racers, one would have generally expected Dale Jr’s elder daughter Isla to take up racing as a hobby. Instead, the little one has taken an interest in reading which her mother Amy Earnhardt recently talked about on social media.

Amy shared a photo on her Instagram story where Isla could be seen with a book in her hand, sitting beside their adorable pet god, Gus looking out of the window. Thus, revealing her love for reading, Amy penned down an emotional caption. She described Isla reading as one of the best things in her life, and also revealed how it made her heart full. The mother-of-two didn’t forget to say how proud she felt either.

“Watching Isla read makes my heart so full. It has been one of the coolest things watching her grow so far. I am so proud of you tiny girl!” she wrote. Isla seemed extremely excited while reading the book. Her love for reading was pretty evident from the picture.

However, it seems not only are Dale Jr and Amy proud of Isla, but the little one is equally proud of her parents too.

Isla Rose shed tears when Dale Jr couldn’t clinch a victory

Dale Jr. made her daughter cry. Not on purpose though. Reportedly, little Isla was super upset and even shed a tear or two when her father’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway ended prematurely last year, owing to a small fire incident.

Talking about the incident later on his Dale Jr Download podcast, the racer described the incident. “I saw Amy and I was like, ‘Was Isla really bothered by the fire or just me coming to a stop and getting out, all that kind of hustle and bustle?’ Cause the fire, look man, okay it was just a small little fire but you know, nonetheless, it wasn’t a big deal. Could have been but it didn’t end up being that big of a deal and Amy’s like, ‘No not really. She was just mad you didn’t win’,” he shared. The JR Motorsports owner understood her feelings. “(Isla) was sad that we didn’t win the race.. I understood what she was going through,” he said.

This incident also reminded Dale Jr of his toddler days when he had a similar reaction to his legendary father Dale Earnhardt having a bad day at the same racetrack in 1984.

“I look over front straightaway and dad’s spinning around. Just spinning around down, comes to a stop. And I’m like, ‘c**p’! He was running up front if not leading the race and now there he is sitting sideways on the front straightaway. Nobody hits him, he didn’t hit anything. I’m like, ‘Get going, get going’, and he’s stuck,” Junior recalled.

“I started crying. So I’m 10. I’m sitting there, I’m not even 10 yet, I was 9. And so, man I just started crying, you know, I was just a 10-year-old kid or whatever and it was just like watching my favorite team lose, right? I was just starting to get really invested in what’s going on,” he added.
