One of the greats of the sport, Dale Earnhardt Jr who is now in his retirement life, found himself in a pickle to choose between a truck camper and a houseboat after spending hours watching reviews about truck camper on YouTube. Just to get his curiosity out of the way, he took to X and asked the community about how the campers have changed over the years and are the new technologically advanced ones any good compared to the traditional campers. Well, the replies did flood, and it allowed Dale Jr to come to a decision which was not exactly what the fans expected.

RVs and truck campers are certainly a good way to disconnect from regular daily life and explore the unknowns of the countryside. While some might suggest the RV and campers are a thing of the past, they do still come in handy for some. Even Dale Jr was curious about how the new-gen truck campers were. While the 49-year-old had spent time researching about those, he wasn’t able to spot any on the road. Taking up his concerns and curiosity, he went onto ask his X community.

He wrote, “Got in a rut of watching truck camper reviews on @YouTube. The nostalgia vs the new technology is cool. Anyone own one? Curious if they’re as cool as they seem. You don’t see many on the road.” Compact spaces and expensive retail were the common tone amongst the replies of the users, which then allowed Dale Jr to make a sound decision that caught everyone by surprise.

Despite all the research and reviews about the truck campers, he went to purchase a 22-year-old houseboat. On making such a lavish purchase, he again asked for opinions on how to make it cool. “With y’all’s help I think I’m over the brief truck camper obsession. I bought a 22 year old houseboat last year. I’ve owned one before but for past and current owners what are some cool ideas. I’m adding new carpet. Otherwise I’m open to ideas, dos, and don’ts.”

After Dale Earnhardt Jr asked for new additions to his houseboat, the fan obliged and came up with rather creative solutions and ideas

The truck camper obsession could not last long for Dale Jr. Looking upon the replies and suggestions about the new campers, he decided that his investment would better serve his purpose of getting a new houseboat. Space and size won’t be an issue here. He did own a houseboat before but still was looking for fresh ideas to make additions to his new purchase. Having put out a new carpet, Dale Jr also wanted a list of Do’s and Dont’s.

One of the common suggestions Dale Jr got was not to install the carpets. One fan had a better alternative solution for this, “Waterproof flooring not carpet it will get wet and moldy and have to be replaced especially if used a lot.”

Adding to some rather interesting suggestion, one fan certainly didn’t want Dale Jr to remain thirsty and therefore wrote, “Do have a Budweiser fridge ✅.” Beer and Boat has a nice ring to it.

Meanwhile an expert on houseboats laid down some concrete suggestions. He wrote, “Solar panels, a good bank of batteries and a quality inverter installation will make everything better. If you need any more help or information let me know.”
