While the goal of each team and driver in NASCAR is to win the title and the Cup Series, the goal of each of the three OEMs lies largely within the words, “What wins on Sunday, sells on Monday”. And for Chevrolet, that motto has not only helped the Detroit giant make the Bowtie a household name but has also led to NASCAR’s winningest manufacturer campaign. After nearly seven decades, Chevy is still going strong after locking out all three nationwide championships in 2023. So with the Daytona 500 right around the corner, the manufacturer aims to highlight their dominance in the Cup Series through decorated campaigns. And what better way to do so than to get one of their most iconic drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr, to be the voice behind the commercial?

Dale Earnhardt Jr lends his voice to Chevy’s latest Daytona 500 commercial

While the Chevy Camaro ZL1 may have been overshadowed by the Mustang Darkhorse and the Camry XSE at the Bluegreen Vacations Duels, the story was quite the opposite in the last few years. From Jimmie Johnson’s dominance in the early 2000s to Dale Earnhardt‘s iconic blacked-out Monte Carlo, Chevrolet has been one step ahead of the competition for decades, and the new advertisement aims to showcase just that.

With Ricky Stenhouse Jr and JTG Daugherty Racing bringing home Chevy’s latest Daytona 500 win, the team now aims to extend that record of 25 wins to 26 this season. On the other hand, the 2024 season will also allow Chevy to further cement their dominance in the Cup Series win list, taking the tally well over the 800 mark. However, the arrival of the new Camry XSE and the Mustang Darkhorse leaves major questions for Chevy to answer. But as of right now, it looks like the story of the Camaro ZL1 is far from over.

After the qualifying rounds for the Daytona 500 had concluded and the Ford Mustang Darkhorse locked out the front row with Logano and McDowell, many were expecting Chevrolet to break their silence on their new challenger. However, Jim Campbell, vice president of performance and motorsports at General Motors, revealed that the company didn’t have beans to spill over the possibility of a new model replacing the ZL1 soon.

Campbell was quoted by Jayski’s, “We are not making any announcements today, but we did say that Camaro is ending production. We are selling Camaros all through this year, and actually, some may remain in next year as well. And as Scott Bell, who heads up our Chevrolet dealers, said, this is not the end of the Camaro story. But we have nothing to announce today.”

Speaking of their goals for the 2024 season, Campbell shared that they remained the same as every season; winning the manufacturers’ and drivers’ championships. While Chevy walked away with the manufacturer title last year, the driver’s championship went to Ford and Blaney, who look as dominant as ever this season too. Campbell concluded, “You see who is getting celebrated, and you get motivated. That is part of the excitement of racing is to come back the next season and go for it. And that is what we are doing.”
