It was not long ago that Frankie Muniz, of Malcolm in the Middle fame, announced his intent to join the world of NASCAR. The actor’s interest in the sport is well known. He even attended the 2001 Daytona 500 in a special capacity, the same fateful race that tragically took the life of Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Over the last two decades, Muniz has been working his way up the ladder by participating in several formats of racing to fulfill his dream of becoming a NASCAR driver.

Recently, during an interview shared on Dirty Mo Media’s Instagram, Muniz stated his plans for achieving his dreams of owning a NASCAR team. Even Dale Earnhardt Jr acknowledged the post by liking it.

How does Frankie Muniz plan to do this?

Muniz said, “The end goal, obviously would be to race as long as I can, as a driver. But I really want to be involved in the sport in some capacity. I think the best way for that is for me to be a team owner. So we’re kind of looking at that. Like, even though it’s in the distance, my priority is race, is driving.”

He further elaborated that he wanted to garner some respect within the NASCAR community by being known primarily as a racing driver, not an “actor/racing driver.”

What racing experience does the former actor have?

Muniz is not just a celebrity/wannabe NASCAR driver. In fact, he does have some experience being behind the wheel of a racecar. Although, he might not have the same level of experience as most of the drivers on the current Cup Series circuit. His professional racing portfolio is decent enough to garner the attention of NASCAR fans.

Muniz got his first proper racing credentials when he finished 7th overall in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race back in 2004. After that, the Agent Cody Banks actor switched rides into Formula BMW USA for the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Furthermore, he also tried his hand at the Champ Car Atlantic Series. However, it was the Sebring Winter National in 2007 where he had a successful run finishing in 2nd place.
